when my dh divorced his ex part of the settlement was that he would continue to pay half the mortage on their house and she would continue to live there until their dd went away to college at which point the house would be sold. well now dh's ex is saying she doesnt want to live there anymore because the house is too expensive to maintain and she just wants to start anew in her own place. her family is offering to help her pay for an apt for her and dd. dh is saying we may have to go live there because there is no way the house will sell right now. (we are renting fwiw) wwyd?

well, you could try to sell it--if it was bought a long time ago you might do okay--if it doesn't sell then move in, but doesn't ex still owe half of the mortgage?
[ Reply | Options ]well my dh says he thinks she is going to refuse to pay her half bc her credit is already shot anyway, so if it gets foreclosed or whatever it wont change her situation

argh, that sucks. Not much you can do I think. Where is the house? It may sell. btw does the exdw expect your dh to help with mortgage payments on a new place?
[ Reply | Options ]Won't she still be responsible for half the mortgage? I don't understand why this is all your dh's problem.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
