  • I am really upset and no one is responding to my post. What am I supposed to do with a 16mo that screams so badly on the changing table that she just threw up?

    • for one thing, stop using a changing table, that is just dangerous with a 16mo. maybe things will be better on the bed or floor?

    • distract her with a toy. sing to her. give her your car keys. If taht doesn't work, change her standing up

      • op: I have tried toys and singing . I am going to try standing up which should be fun when she has a messy poop.

          • I am going to give it a try but am not looking forward to it. The funny thing is that when she had colic the only place she wanted to be was the changing table. This has been torture all week.

    • Some kids do this. My DS has started. It's awful, but I don't think its traumatic. Some kids just puke easily.

    • I'll try to help. I give my ds a toy to play with while changing him and then I do it as fast as possible. Then again he doesn't scream... he just tries to roll over and is very fussy and annoying.

    • I personally got really good at changing quickly or standing up. Kids will cry. If she is crying to the point of vomiting you are taking too long.

      • It was so long because I could not keep her down and I needed to get some desitin on her. The worse she is, the longer it takes me.

    • i had to stop changing ds laying down at 14 mos cause he freaked out. I do it standing now. My idea is that if dc refuses something, and it's not a big deal just give in...gotta pick your fights. GL!
