  • 14 years and 3 kids and I really don't think dh and I are going to make it--he's (verbally) abusive and I can't stand him anymore. Was a sahm and have a measly $12 hr job now and am slowly saving $$ but it'll never be enough. feel so trapped.

        • or-sometimes you can do a cours say in one year that with a previoius bachlors puts you in a higher pay scale. try hospitals or universities too they are looking for smart people who would take admin jobs. they train and will move you up quickly. are you in NYC?

          • ^ admin as you may start off as a secretary but you could take on more responsibility and more management type rolls

              • any contacts there? can you do "info interviews" ? pick women who look like they are moms to talk about going back into the work force bet they'll be helpfull some of those jobs are gone before they are listed.

    • Would you consider legal secretary? In a large firm you can make 50K +. You have to be able to deal with egos, though.

    • You are NOT trapped!! My dh finally left me after 12 years of physical, mental, emotional abuse. I was sahm. I thought that I could never get a job because of my "worthless" degrees. Well, I have many options and life is good! GL!!
