I'm jealous that 199 parents are so involved - not really since many schools I know have involved parents. What I'm posting about are the recen anti-Center School posts. They are rude, racist and selfish. It could just be one poster for all I know.

        • np: I agree with OR. ps199 parents here all the time calling kids thugs and fellas are really losing sympathy. they need to stop denigrating the center school kids, and talk about the real issues like overcrowding and loss of specials rooms. attacking center makes them seem awful.

          • It's really easy to try to shame posters into submission with ridiculous claims of racism. What do you care anyway if you're not even zoned for the school. Take up your own issues and allow others to vent. I've seen alot worse on this board. By the way t has nothing to do with the kids. It has to do with space. If Center is not a catchment school they can be anywhere. They are the selfish ones if they won't graciously move for small 5 year olds that need a local school.

            • NP: "small 5 year olds" don't need that much space. Middle schoolers need more space. I have a little one in a crowded building shared by 2 schools and you seem nuts! You should've done better due diligence before you bought your pricey place in z

            • look, the lady calls these 11 yos thugs (her words) and "fellas". Sorry, I could care less what happens at ps199. I can understand wanting space back as overcrowding becomes more and more of an issue. buut resorting to denigrating these kids is vile, nd racist or not, it isn't the issue. she needs to shutup.

            • And the people who just bought into the trump towers don't need to kick out kids so they can create a private school. What they call thugs, are just your average adolescents, which they are blind to with their babies. They need to get over themselves and quit beating up on these kids. Just wait until their little five year olds are eleven and just like them. But that will be perfectly acceptable, right??

            • nnp: the "thugs" poster is a disgruntled parent at the elementary that shares the building who is paying a lot to live in the zone and wants to push the good middle school out of the building. The "thugs" she refers to apparently score high on tests get into good selective high schools.

              • ^^ in other words, they are not "thugs," though perhaps the fact that almost half the students are non-white makes her think that it's ok to call them "thugs" and she feels her precious 5 yr old white child "Trumps" them based on rent paid.

                  • The school is 50 percent white, 22 percent black etc. It may be this "thug" poster may be referring to general adolescent behavior rather than making a racial commentary. But what i don't understand is why there are so many bored people on this site th have an opinion even though this issue doesn't affect their lives in any way. Plus, these posters really don't know the details of the situation so they are ignorant in their responses.

                    • Hello. As a student from the Center School, I would like to say that we are not big, bad kids who want to kill five-year-olds. I don't think that this issue has much to do with race, but 199 has always considered us "thugs". Why this is, I can't say. The Center School is a very good community and many parents want their students to go here. We have never meant violence to PS 199, and we aren't sure why they think this. Also: Regarding the move, it isn’t our fault you’re overcrowded. We shouldn’t have to take all of our belongings after 27 years here, and move because you want to walk to school. Walking to school is not a necessity. Plus, kicking us out isn’t much of a help. After a couple of years, you’ll just be overcrowded all over again. I know that this has already been decided, but I would like to express my opinion on this infamous chatroom. Thank you.
