[ - ] Stepson is in college and dh pays his rent, expenses, and provides him with a credit card. His girlfriend of about 6 months just moved in with stepson and (to my knowledge) is not paying any of the bills. This seems like she is taking advantage a bit. I think she genuinely loves stepson but her life has definitely gotten much better lately. She went from barely making ends meet and living with her parents to showing pictures of her brand new computer on Facebook. I know it's none of my business, but I casually asked dh if the gf was paying any of the bills and he didn't want to talk about it. Just shrugged his shoulders. I'm going to keep out of it, but WWYD? 13 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Don't get me wrong - I'd feel the same misgivings you do. But this is one of the ways that men attract women and there are other ways women attract men. It's a precarious game and you just have to sit back and let it play out. My in-laws didn't approve of me and here I am 30 years out and we're close and my kids are nearly grown. They met me when I was 19 and also didn't have lot going for me. I have to keep reminding myself of all of this because it's hard to perceive accomplishment and character in most kids under 21 [ Reply | More ]

We did it this way, because I was on maternity leave and he did have to get up and work every day. I could nap when the baby napped. Also, I am more able to function with little sleep than he is. Plus I was BFing of course and while I could pump, I really didn't want to because it just took up more time. So I guess I'm saying I did not insist on any kind of even split. However at one point he told me I was acting like a zombie, insisted that I pump or let DB have formula, and did handle the night feedings just so I could sleep a full night that night. What a lazy excuse!!! We ALL need our sleep. Working parents and SAH parents. I have been both and have been tired as both. In our house the first year the deal is I nurse at night and dad does everything else (i.e. baby wakes up and dad changes diaper, then hands to me and goes back to sleep. I nurse, burp, roll over with baby and go back to sleep. If for some reason baby doesn't go back to sleep, dad's turn to try) and then dad gets up first with baby in the morning so I can steal as many extra minutes as possible. Being up all night with a baby SUCKS and it is not one parent's job. Suck it up, Dad. I'm sure you've had interrupted sleep before in your life. [ Reply | More ]

I was in the same boat. MIL would say things like "He's always needed his sleep" and "He has such a high pressure job, he needs to sleep" (He is in finance). At the 6 week mark, I got a night nurse for 4 nights/week. Truth be told, I am still angry about how he behaved the first 6 weeks. I told him he could sleep in the guest bedroom on Friday/Saturday nights so he could take DB in the morning and I could rest. He would stay up and play video games until 3 AM, then at 8 AM was too tired to take DB. Hire help if you can't rely on DH. [ Reply | More ]

Put a piece if apple in a cup. Cover it with Saran to a tight fit and use an elastic to hold it place. Poke a small hole in the top. Make a few and place them around. Works for me every time. [ Reply | More ]
