It's the old Park Avenue Christian Church Day School (PACCDS)- was booted out of their Park/85th church when it sold the building to developers. Quite the conversation here 12 mo ago when it occurred. Now it's at like 70th/CPW and rebranded Park Children's Day School. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Anyone ever been fired from a job? Need advice. It sounds petty but I'm so embarrassed and don't know what to tell my family and friends. I was there 6 months and it just didn't work out. WOHM with 3DCs and too frazzled and just couldn't cut it. So disappointed in myself. They were generous enough to give me severance and extend my health insurance for an additional month, and said I could say it was a temporary 6 month job. What do I say in my cover letter for new jobs or tell people? 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Say it was a temporary position that ended. Most companies will NOT divulge to other employers why you left because they don't want to be sued. [ Reply | More ]

For jobs, I would leave this off your resume entirely. Tell them you needed some personal time off. For people, tell them it wasn't the right fit and you decided to move on. Any time this subject comes up, use the diversion tactic. Answer the question briefly, then change the subject. Make it something about them and they'll quickly forget about you, people love to talk about themselves. [ Reply | More ]

Say exactly that. It was 6 month contract and you were no longer needed. Anyone who knows it was supposed to be full time, just tell them it ended up turning into a 6 month contract and it ended. [ Reply | More ]

This. Dukan is a great jumpstart. when it gets to hard to keep going, switch to WW on-line. I have done WW after 3 pregnancies but I think that weight is a bit easier to lose. Dukan for the stubborn pounds. I also had a lot of success in my 20s with a modified version of Scarsdale - like I was doing the "keep trim" phase as my diet. Basically no carbs, little fat, no alcohol. I did allow some fats though (nuts, cheese, olives, salad dressing, all as garnishes to healthy, lean food) because otherwise you get too hungry. GOOD LUCK. Don't rely on exercise at all - it should really be an afterthought compared to just eating less. [ Reply | More ]

Tons of veggies and fruit, lean meats and whole wheat grains. I really cut back on dairy, sugar and anything pre-packaged, but also didn't completely cut them out. I would have yogurt, milk, cheese etc. but in moderation. I let myself splurge on sweets but within reason and point allocation. I also measured everything - weighed all my meat portions, measured out dressings and portions exactly as I tracked. The weeks when I didn't measure as accurately, I would lose less, so I think being accurate (especially with things like butter, oils, etc) really helps. In the beginning I also avoided eating out and alcohol, although once I got more confident with WW, I did dine out and drink wine - I was just smart with what I ordered and saved weekly points etc. Another big key thing was planning - I would ensure I had groceries for lunch and cut up veggies for snacks, have fruit available, keep junk food out of the house... saved me from snacking on empty calories or grabbing a granola bar (5 points) instead of a bag of veggies and some low fat dip (usually the dip was 1 point, veggies were free). Step 1. WW. Step 2 (simultaneous with step 1) find something active you enjoy. Step 3, commit to EVERY DAY doing at least 40 minutes of physical activity. It is yoru job to do this because you are otherwise jeopardizing yoru future. It takes at least 2 weeks to get used to the exercise thing, and it will not feel great at first, but just commit to it. You can do this!! [ Reply | More ]

Are you sure about that? MS is not common. HS is. You likely also have no idea what the circumstances were. For all you know, he and his ex both went to prep school and wanted to give that to their kids if they were able to afford it. [ Reply | More ]

Dh's kids were at boarding school when I met him. One needed a special school for learning issues, the other wanted to study animation and one particular school had that as an elective. I'm sure the fact that their parents were divorcing was a big part of them wanting to get out of the house too. [ Reply | More ]

Live on the west coast so boarding school thing is pretty uncommon. Would depend on the circumstances I guess. BTW, divorced and dating too and the guy I am with doesn't have kids (we are both mid 30s) and I worry sometimes about that too, as I have 2 older DCs. GL. [ Reply | More ]

DS's pre k had something similar. 250.00 "insurance" that parents get back if they send a letter. Most parents forget and the school keeps this cash. Not a TT [ Reply | More ]

our prek had this as well. But I think ours was at least $1000. They sent us a letter 2 years later saying that they could either send us the bond money back, or we could donate it to the school. I expect many probably left it at the school as a donation- we did not! [ Reply | More ]
