is it possible to hire a babysitter around bedtime to help you out a bit?

I don't know if that's possible. I can afford it, but I don't know how I would find someone who is available just for an hour or two each night.

I live near Columbia University, so there are many young girls who are looking to earn a little extra money and willing to take on babysitting jobs. Good luck to you.

This is common and you'll feel like this a lot. Many, many people stagger their kids at 2-3 years. You just soldier through. If they're all alive and unharmed, you're doing OK.

Stagger! Can you do the youngest first, say 7pm? 7.30pm for 3 year old & 8pm for 5 year old?

Read all together - each of the older kids picks one book. Put DB in a carrier or sling and rock while you read if they're fussy - or nurse during the story. Both 3 and 5Yo should be adept at turning pages.

it's going to be impossible to have alone time with the 5 yo unless they go to bed very late! here's what i did: put 6 mo to bed first (they should be going to sleep around 7 or so anyway), then read to the 5yo and 3yo at the same time. Once they get into the routine, it will be easy! good luck!

she doesn't need to do this. she already went to a dentist and anyway, nothing she can do at this point unless she wants a root canal which isn't recommended for baby teeth. it is very likely just bruising.

What fucking planet are you on? The Cincinnati IRS Office demanded names of donors to Tea Party groups. They SAY now they have destroyed that information. They haven't said they didn't do anything with names.

We got something like that a few years ago. Accountant said it was random and not to worry. I was worried because at the time we were both self-employed. Acct. sent them what they wanted and it was fine.

I didn't get that letter this year, but I have in the past. You'll probably get a thick envelope and you'll have to submit all kinds of additional info to them by a certain date.

Don't panic. I have always found the IRS is very reasonable. This sounds random. They may ask for more info. Just send it to them.

We had one last year. They said we had taken a deduction that was undocumented - our mortgage interest deduction - stupid because it is just such an obvious deduction that we can prove. It was for $25K. Accountant said not to worry, he handled it, a few months later we received a notice saying the issue had been resolved.

Stay calm. Act like you have a full, busy life with lots of other plans and are not sitting around waiting for him to get in touch. Read the rules until they become second nature. Relax. If he's interested, he will orchestrate a meeting eventually.

I won't trade, but my SIL is weird in the other direction. BIL got a great new job, hey had to relocate but SIL insisted on a teeny house, insists that they don't have $$$ for classes for Dcs and only 1 vacation every 5 years("they can go on their own dime!"). It's like she is getting off on acting poor.

OP here - this is the one I found that I liked the shape and color, but it looks like plastic (probably because it is). I'd like something similar but that looks a little more adult. Oh, I just moved to burbs, so that causes some of the issues for me shopping now.

Someone told me that she was a star soccer player in HS. I asked if she played in college and she told me, no, she quit in HS because her coaches said she was so good that she was throwing off the entire league and making it unfair for all the other girls who weren't as good as she was. Did I mention this was my SIL? No?

I think that most parents usually only talk about it in the context of schools and opportunities for their children to learn. Right? Gifted kids need a certain education, that's really hard to find in public or private.

Well, I meant between $200-$1000/ piece. After the 400K is poor post, I thought that would be considered cheap. It definitely doesn't feel cheap, though.

Agreed. I've bought a lot of stuff from them and always had good success. As an FYI, almost every time you buy something they email you a 10% off coupon. So buy something small first and then use the coupon for something bigger.

I buy stuff there sometimes I don't find it cheaper than comparable websites. If you find a deal, go ahead, but I'd see if you can get it cheaper first. I got some nice stools a few years ago 2/$150

Overstock used to have great stuff in the very beginning (around 1999 or so). I scored some raging deals. Then I tried to buy rugs there. Total crap. Huge fight to have them eat the return costs because the rugs looked nothing like the colors online. I wouldn't buy anything there that was big, heavy or hard to ship back. You really have to see, touch and test out furniture in person. I wouldn't buy furniture at Overstock. No way. If you must, at least go through ebates for 5% back.
