[ - ] Can you be Catholic and vote for someone who has promised to seek the repeal of the Hyde Amendment and will have a pro-choice litmus test for the Supreme Court? I say yes, DH who is pro-choice WASP says pro-life is non-negotiable belief of the Catholic faith and if I'm pro-choice it is disengenous to continue to call myself Catholic. He says if you are Catholic you are "in for a penny in for a pound." I'm beginning to think he is right. 26 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

NP: the doctrines of the church are that, doctrines (based on some type of belief system). Many agree that the doctrines of not only the Catholic church, but some faiths/organizations in general, need to evolve. It's like the whole thing with priests not marrying. That was something that was made up by the church and not inspired by the bible. [ Reply | More ]

The Hyde Amendment is a medicaid issue. It is not anti-abortion. Trump's VP is openly anti abortion for ALL WOMEN EVERYWHERE. He also hates gay people and believes they should have fewer civil rights than straight people. This is far, far more worrying for the majority of Americans. Trump's campaign is past the point of a dumpster fire. It's a sinkhole the size of Texas. [ Reply | More ]

Do you go to Mass? Just curious. Last time I went on a weekday I ended up accidentally attending 9am mass prior to a 10am funeral. It does...but being an hour late isn't a big deal (I know it feels like it). What has worked for me is to ask for a notification when they are on their way (although I don't always get that), to try not to schedule anything too close to the proposed dropoff time, and if I have to, to just say that unfortunately that particular day's visit won't work (I know not everyone can do this). Hang in there. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] DH was offered a government contractor position where he will likely only work 40 hours per week and make slightly less than what he's making now, but now he works 60+ hour weeks. It seems like a no brainer for him to take the job but he is worried that he was have all these house and kid responsibilities since he will be home more. I work, too, about 20-30 hours per week. Isn't it reasonable for him to take on more home responsibilities if he will be home anyway? 17 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

It's reasonable but he's clearly telling you he doesn't want to do anymore around home than what he's doing now. If he's working 60+ hours a week when he could make basically the same working less, it's because he wants too. Don't expect him to help any more even with more time [ Reply | More ]

This makes no sense. I do virtually everything a SAHM would do with 3 kids. All the cooking, cleaning, organizing, chauffeuring, etc. so he's going to get home at 5:30 and chill every day? [ Reply | More ]

He can chauffeur. You're unlikely to get him to suddenly start cooking and be is establishing that he will procrastinate or do a lousy job at cleaning so, he csn go pick up the kids on his way home. [ Reply | More ]

which ones can he do? my DH is great @ making appointments, so bing, that goes in his column. he was great @ baths, so bing, in his column. does your DH have the patience for piano (or do you have expectations about how it should be done?)? sit down with him, brainstorm about all the tasks that need to be done (don't just hand him a list even though I can barely fend off racing over and handing one to your DH right now), and divide them up. Wholly reasonable expectation that a change in his status ripples through the HH and duties will shift accordingly. [ Reply | More ]

Sure, but if he's home, no reason he shouldn't help out. If she's working 20 hours a week, she should be able to get almost all household stuff done while he's working, but he shouldn't get a by on spending time with the kids. She should do dinner, clean-up, lunches, etc. He can help with baths/stories/homework. If she's working 30, he may have to pitch in and help with household stuff. It takes more than 10 hours/week to run a household. [ Reply | More ]

We do and found it great because we could do all my DD's activities with the baby in the carrier. Jealousy was minimal because older child can understand more. It's also really helpful that older kid is in school all day. It's getting hard now that DB is almost two because he's not content to hang in the stroller and dd's events. [ Reply | More ]

OMG are you serious. "The reason this is a politically explosive revelation is because the Clinton Foundation promised to disclose its donors as a condition of Hillary Clinton becoming secretary of state. Shortly after Barack Obama was elected president in 2008, the Clinton Foundation signed a “memorandum of understanding” with the Obama White House agreeing to reveal its contributors every year. The agreement stipulates that the “Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative” (as the charity was then known) is part of the Clinton Foundation and must follow “the same protocols.” It hasn’t." http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-04-29/clinton-foundation-failed-to-disclose-1-100-foreign-donations [ Reply | More ]
