Two of the homeschooling parents I know were severely bullied in school themselves because of things like acne and weight, they did not want to risk their children repeating that experience. The other set of parents were know are born again christians and they only wanted their children to socialize with other children of church members. For the record, the only one of the kids of the three families we know who was college age ended up going to a crappy college ... my ds heard from the other brother his age (they live near us) that the brother ended up bombing the sats. In Atlanta, an extensive advertising campaign “Stop Sugarcoating It,” sponsored by Children’s Healthcare, targets childhood obesity. Taglines under obese children include “Warning … It’s hard to be a little girl if you’re not”; “Being fat takes the fun out of being a kid”; and “Big Bones Didn’t Make Me This Way … Big Meals Did.” There was also a YouTube ad with a sad girl saying, “I don’t like going to school, because all the other kids pick on me. 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Agreed. Time to face this issue head on. My husband is a pediatrician and it makes him sick how parents just don't seem to realize or care the true harm they are doing to their kids by not taking control at meal/snack time. Some kids have much stronger appetites than others--and life is harder for those parents. But you can still control their intake--at least until around middle school, when hopefully they have sufficient self-control to take over for themselves! [ Reply | More ]

just like Sheldon Adelson with his meth-cartel money laundering deal, these guys buy impunity by bribing politicians. Melgen was among the top recipients of Medicare reimbursements in recent years, during a time when he was also a major Democratic donor. Melgen's attorneys have denied any wrongdoing." I could never have been her friend for very long, unless I had known her when we were younger and she was grandfathered in. And, furthermore, in the earlier days, Miranda would never had gotten the dates she did - she may have gotten dates but not the caliber, looks-wise, as the ones they have her dating. 19 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I also can't believe the show now when I rewatch it 15 years later. Carrie was so shallow and pathetic chasing Mr Big and trashing Aiden. She was a selfish and self-centered friend. The preppy was such a pathetic striver who got the wanna-be SAHM job at the art gallery and had to settle desperately for that vomitous husband. Miranda was ugly and a bitch and had to settle for a retarded alcoholic. Big would never have married Carrie in real life. And Samantha had a mental illnes. What shitty role models for young women. I have 3 kids and I always use it as an excuse as to why I can't hang out with my ILs or do other stupid shit. People think that I'm stressed, but I just don't want to hang out. Would rather be at home with my family. [ Reply | More ]
