Are there one or two things you really wish he would pick up? Why not focus on that....just ask him to get up on his own and to plan an activity on Sundays or something. Then you get a break. But harboring resentment is a buzzkill in a marriage. [ Reply | More ]

I know exactly how you feel. Just this morning I woke up to dirty dishes in the sink (not the dishwasher) after DH had a late night snack. I thought for a moment about picking a fight with DH about them once he got up. Then I realized it would start the day off the wrong foot and just went and put it in the dishwasher myself. I'll mention it to him but won't make it an issue to fight about. It's hard to be zen about these things but the returns are usually worth it. [ Reply | More ]

But realistically, whether you're at home or at work, a group effort like getting everyone out for an outing requires someone to be in charge and set tasks and priorities. In your house, it's you. Doesn't sound like he's balking. Some women would be happy to have a DH who pitches in when asked. [ Reply | More ]

Weird. Maybe people thought I was some sort of pushover or doormat. I don't get it. I thought it was so strange that people would think I have nothing better to do in life than watch their children. I don't live in NYC anymore but just went there on a trip and met one of these old neighbors on the street and she was compley dismissive of me and praised my DH's career. It was so strange because I am currently the main breadwinner and have a much more challenging career than her (she might not understand this). [ Reply | More ]

Most women in her position find something valuable to do (focus more on their children, volunteer, travel...), but she decided to focus her energy on hating people who have what she feels like she may have missed out on. 50 is going to be harder than 40, she's going to realize the time she wasted doing nothing positive, and then there's going to be a new crop of even younger women for her to hate. Our sofa is RH. I'd read terrible reviews, but had size issues (our doorway is super narrow and this somehow happened to fit) and went for it. Arrived within the estimated timeframe (10 weeks, I believe) and the delivery guys were nice enough. Wear and tear has been fine (18 months later) - I let the sales associate talk me into getting down-filled cushions and they need to be fluffed after each sitting (but I'm compulsive and would probably do that anyhow). The Perennials fabric is good - but not totally stain-proof. [ Reply | More ]
