[ - ] I am first time mother to a 6-week-old DB. DH is refusing to sleep our marital bedroom (where we have the crib) because he says he needs to be well-rested for work. He is sleeping on the couch, and I am doing 100% of the night-time feedings. Is this fair? I am starting to get really annoyed. MIL is totally on DH's side, says that he "needs his rest." Ugh. 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I did 100% of night time feedings during the week after DH went back to work (he took 1 week for each DC). It sucks. You are both tired and miserable. But you can rest during the day. But he should share the wakings at night on the weekends, IMO, so you can catch up on some sleep. [ Reply | More ]

No, you need to get like blackout wasted for alcohol to actually thin your blood. At normal doses, it actually thickens your blood, partially because it dehydrates you. Studies have found that drinking alcohol before/during flights greatly increases risk of blood clot. [ Reply | More ]

it's not uncommon but it's not the case for most women. most women can't conceive after 42-ish without assistance. everyone has women in their family who had kids at 40+, but that doesn't mean all women can. another thing is that prior pregnancies increase your chances of being able to have children when you're pushing 40. our ancestors who gave birth at 46 also had a few in their 20s, 30s, or even teens. most of the women posting about it on UB are just STARTING at 40. totally different game. In kindergarten they have ten more volunteers than they need. The ones who get picked out of a hat. Every year past that the room is reaching out for more volunteers or strong-arming in different ways (such as the very visible sign up on parents night or the email from the teacher directly saying they noticed you did not attend or sign up for anything). By 6th grade they are emailng that "no one has signed up for room mom yet." 7th and 8th grade they generally beg for chaperones and concessions help for sports or require it for your kid's participation in an event or sport. By High School I seriously suspect any of the motives of the parents who are still around. 75% are either fanatical volunteers .. saints .. or have other strange motives. 25% are just nice people. In our public, the K teacher had to ask a few times to get class parents, most of the moms happened to be WOH so no one had time. This last year, in 1st grade, she was turning parents away. So, it's not the same every year. IF you start as class mom, you get involved more quickly and get to know everyone. On the other hand, you'll also get annoyed more quickly at begging other people to show up for stuff! [ Reply | More ]

Pretty much. Every year is different. Just like every teacher is different. But once you go above and beyond to do something that is an incredible pain - for example being an overnight chaperone at a HS 24 hour walkathon - you will find yourself ever more free to say no to a lot of other stuff. sometimes you just have had enough. And when the 3d grade comes calling for teacher appreciation week - you are more likely to shrug and say "someone else is it this time." [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I'm having sex with my boyfriend for the first time tonight. I'm nervous. This may well be the last first time I ever have sex. I think he's the one. I asked him his pubic hair preference and he said shaved, but it doesn't really matter. So I shaved and now I have razor bumps that look like herpes. Ugh. Shouldn't have shaved. Anyway, any tips for the big night? I'm not that "experienced." 20 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Eat pineapple so your twat tastes good. If it doesn't look pretty, at least make it taste pretty. [ Reply | More ]

op: haha I'm actually doing that as I type this. And hopefully I can just tell him to turn the lights off, and he won't notice the razor bumps. [ Reply | More ]
