[ - ] I WOH and have 3 kids. My 2 younger kids are cared for by an after school sitter who picks them and feeds them and takes them to the playground. She doesn't cook but she re-heats. If there is nothing for them to eat she manages to boil pasta... However, my older dc gets home and is usually starving and unless there is food he stays hungry. I am not so organized and today he couldn't find anything to eat. I know I suck but I need to figure out a solution to this. I currently pay afterschool sitter $300/wk and I also have a cleaning lady for another $150. Should I just replace the two with full time housekeeper who can pick up the kids so that she cooks, cleans and feeds all kids (this will cost extra $200/wk) or do I just give $$ to my older kid so he can eat out which will be pizza or some other shitty option. Can we give out email addresses on here? I have ways to organize you so you don't have to spend extra money. One way would be to create a meal plan or to use a crock pot in the morning. My sister got married and had kids right after college. I'll admit that I do think it's a pretty ideal life. I don't really see the benefit in working for a company for a year or two just to prove to the world that you can work. It costs companies a lot of money to retrain employees. bc it's not just about finding a partner that "wants" a SAHM w the kids, it's about him being able and willing to be the sole income to support that family. not to mention, that what if you suffer from infertility and it takes you 5+ years to conceive or even longer to stop TTC and to adopt a baby. what are you doing during all those years. and then there are the normal adverse circumstances - layoffs, illness, economic downturns, so even if you meet a person whom you want to marry AND who wants you to SAH, things don't work out for that to happen. so you can "want" to be a SAHM once you have kids, but there are a lot of hurdles that need to be cleared to get to that point and there might be additional hurdles to clear even if you reach that point. and not everyone who wants this clears those hurdles. i have a former friend who was like this, she never pursued a career, just took an easy job out of college, only dated men looking for a wife who wanted to be a SAHM, was dying to have kids at 22yo when everyone else was not, and yet she is now in her late 40s and both single AND childless and basically takes care of her elderly parents. sometimes things don't work out. Not at all. I am a SAHM now but worked for many years and felt very satisfied with the level I left my career at. I was close enough to the "top" to know that the top wasn't for me. That said, I am SO glad I lived independent, traveled with friends and had solo fun in my 20s. I only wish I didn't worry about the end goal. Oh, sweetie. That's the feminists talking. A wife and mother is what God intended you to be. It's the natural order of things! You don't need to college to learn how. Or wait until you're 22! You should stay home and help your mother with the younger children until your father finds you a good husband. [ Reply | More ]

np: there's a difference between assuming the worst and preparing for adversity - job loss, economic downturns, divorce, illness, etc. are very possible, hopefully not ALL, but at least one. you can eat healthfully, exercise and generally care for your health, but there are no guarantees. I'll take the other side of this, hands down. My sister got married and had kids pretty quickly after college. the relevance for me -- and I don't think it is the strongest point on this topic -- is that internationally and in DC, a president needs to deal with many people and situations that do not make him happy. [ - ] S/O Angry black woman post below. I am a biracial woman, East African mother and Northern European father. Black people in my father's country are scarce, and the few there are do not limit themselves to black people, they date and marry people they are compatible with and attracted to regardless of their race. The problem with US black women is they don't consider anyone but a black man to be a suitable husband! I never encounter this attitude among black women outside the US, and they have no more problems dating than other women. White and Asian women are free to weigh in on this post. 55 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I think these stereotypes are really hilarious. As a black woman who supervises a very large staff, I have to disagree. Usually the employees who are loud and brash and rude are not in positions of power, at least in the corporate world. As a black woman, you have to be very careful how you interact with people in the workplace, and I find most of my friends are constantly trying to fight the angry black woman stereotype.
