[ - ] I struck Chicago off the list of places to move for two main reasons - the crime (obviously), but also the insane manner in which Illinois has handled public employee pensions, and the state's refusal to curb existing obligations. Taxes will have to shoot up over time just to pay for current obligations, and there seems to be no appetite in IL for serious pension reform to solve this crisis. I don't understand why, though. Other states have sliced through their pension troubles in various ways, but IL seems paralyzed. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I'm actually surprised that she's getting any prison time for that--plus a 10 year license suspension. Stupid move, but she meant well, and it was an accident. Meanwhile, also in Quebec, the Luka Magnotta jury may very well find him NCR for murdering and dismembering his victim--and making and posting a movie of the crime, before mailing the hands and feeds to political officials and schools. He could do a few years in the loony bin then be set loose. Happens all the time in Canada.
