I dont know where Goodwill is, I will call Salvation Army, but I had been hoping to help a poor scout troop. My heart goes out to kids who cannot participate in camping becasue their families cannot afford tents, sleeping bags, etc. [ Reply | More ]

I think that Goodwill is a shopping destination for poor families that are looking to give their kids the best they can. Also I think Girl Scouts typically help out girls who might not be able to afford all their activities. [ Reply | More ]

Agreed! Her comment about her mom saying it's ok to be stripping as long as you are the best is suspect. Sounds like mom could be out of touch too. And the fact that she left her in ny to pursue modeling? Seriously she isn't model material. [ Reply | More ]

No. It's some girl who hated her computer science classes so she decided to create an entirely new life for herself...closed bank accounts, moved without telling her mom, got a new cell #...now is 'living the life' in Williamsburg working on her modeling career ( bad complexion, too old). [ - ] Desperately need parenting advice for increasingly oppositional behavior in 11 year old DS. He was always somewhat anxious and prone to tantrums as a baby but overall is a good kid, no issues at school. But increasingly rude at home, often physical with his siblings to the point of hurting them purposely at times (3 DS so there is a lot of horse play that seems ok at times, but he crosses the line), he seems to hate everything, he's started cursing and saying nasty things under his breath when he's mad, and now this weekend there was a huge huge blowup. He's been sullen and complaining about everything 'sucking', nasty to all of us etc and I was trying to ignore. Finally I couldn't deal with his nastiness and I sent him to his room, as I did that he told me to fuck off and called me a bitch. I'm beside myself and haven't spoken to him the rest of the weekend. He's grounded of course and we took all electronics away but he doesn't seem to care (or says he doesn't) and I have little hope that he won't do this again. Help 9 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Oh, sorry. I'm a single ( divorced) mom too with a ds. I worry about this same scenario when my ds hits puberty. Are there any male role models in his life that could talk to him? He may just be feeling lost which presents as anger....displaced anger towards you & little sibling. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks for responding. Yes, I remarried. New DH is very good with him but bc of being a stepparent has been reluctant to step in too much to discipline. He has a good relationship with DS, better than mine, sadly. I think DS blames me for my divorcing his dad (he had an affair among other issues, but I'd never tell DS that). [ Reply | More ]

Well I don't think it would be wrong for your DH ( step dad) to talk to him. It could make their relationship stronger. Your ds probably knows his dad isn't so great but it's easier to take it out on you. I think you need to be strict but demonstrative with love for him. If his dad is gone, don't close yourself off when he acts out because he needs to know unconditional love....especially at his worst. And I'm happy you found love again....gives me hope. [ - ] Any therapists on? I want to send a thank-you note to a former therapist but I'm wondering if I'm crossing boundaries. She was a counselor at my college counseling center and I stopped seeing her when I graduated. It's been over ten years and she's still there.
