febrile seizures are associated with high fevers, most commonly (not 101.3). Fevers are the body's immune response. It means his white blood cells are attacking the virus or bacteria causing the infection. Rude it out unless he is in pain. Lots of fluids and rest. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Having so many troubles with my 7 yo's sleep. She was always a good sleeper except for the past 3-4 weeks. Cries out for us almost hourly, sobs, everything is wrong - she's itchy, too hot, too cold, heard a noise. I lost it last night when she cried for us to come in because "she forgot" she was able to get up and use the bathroom by herself. It is like having an infant again and nobody is sleeping. DH & I try to ignore, but her room is next to ours and we can't go back to sleep if she won't stop crying. I think we've eliminated any real physical reason she might be upset or have discomfort, and think she's doing this for attention. I think she's too old for a sticker chart and needs to know this is seriously disrupting the family. I told her she has no right to keep mom and dad awake at night. She just looks at us and says "I forgot." I'm at the end of my rope, so tired. I want to take away privileges and toys for every night we don't sleep because of her crying. What would you do? 21 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Don't do this yet. Why over-pathologize this? It's probably a phase and she'll move on. I have found that kids often regress before big developmental leaps. Are there some changes coming up in her life? I'd also ask her teacher if she's noticed any changes in school behavior. And yes, a physical exam is prob in order. Gl. This will pass. [ Reply | More ]

I am a nanny and I arrive every day 10 mins early and always leave 10-15 minutes late. I come early for my own reasons bc I drive and there is school traffic if I leave later. Evening is always bc of boss's late train, grocery shopping, etc. if you don't have anywhere to be, I would leave it alone. Those extra 30 mins usually don't make or break me and they have been very flexible with me if I have to leave early on the rare occasion. A little professional courtesy going both ways can really help a relationship. [ Reply | More ]
