NP if it's decaying vermin stinking up your house, it's dead mice/rats and tenting the house a waste of time and money. If this is the case, it will go away on its own - gross, but it happens. Your whole house shouldn't smell though, it should be localized and smell like rot, not like mold. [ Reply | More ]

Ugh. There is nothing more disgusting than houses that smell of mold. Something funky is going on. I have lived for decades in hot and humid places like Florida, Hawaii and the Caribbean. My houses have never smelled of mold, but it turns my stomach whenever I smell it. I bet there is something going on with your roof. My neighbor had a mysterious moldy smell issue and it resulted in a big roof repair. [ Reply | More ]

I bought this house. It was just renovated. Before I bought it. The inspector went up into the roof and said its fine. There are some termites that I knew of and that's why it will be tented now. [ Reply | More ]

Inspectors are not infallible. Go ahead and tent it for the termites. Maybe the extermination fumes will overpower the stench of mold and mildew. The smell of mildew does not occur for no reason. Just sayin'. Does the entire house smell or is it just particular rooms? [ Reply | More ]

Just open your windows as much as you can to air it out. Do a big spring clean, clean the drains in your tubs, sinks and showers, if you have any plumbing that isn't used regularly flush them with bleach. My grandmother's bathroom stank to high heaven and it turned out if a shower isn't used for months on end sewer gases can rise, which is grodi! Run a dehumidifier in the basement and air it out if possible. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] DH here: My 4 y.o. dd asks for "bath time w/Daddy" as her gift now. Every time she has the chance for a present or a reward (birthday, eating all her dinner, etc.), she now asks to "take a bath with Daddy." So I fill the tub with bubbles so she's not traumatized to see the naked male form yet, then I get in quickly and cover up, then she strips and gets in and starts splashing around. Could be cute if it ended there, but then she sits down and tries to wiggle back against me, and I have to keep her at bay. She'll stand up, shake her little tush, and talk about how good the warm water feels, and she'll go up to the faucet, turn it on, and wash herself under the stream, cooing and sometimes looking over her shoulder at me. Then my wife walks by the open bathroom door and gives a look I can only describe as jealousy. After bath time is over and I'm all dried up, my wife gives me the silent treatment for the rest of the night. I'll come up and start talking about the neighbors or ask her about her day at work, and she'll just sort of go "hmph" and keep her back to me. WTF, no one told me being a husband and father was going to be like this. 9 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Actually pretty easy with a baby. Join the local parenting group, go to parent/baby events at the library (ours has weekly music and story sessions), go for walks in the park with a stroller.
