"Tiers" applies to private school, and, depending on who you ask, it's either a function of college admissions or it's what An Unknown Someone has decided are The Best schools. Not necessarily the smartest peer group or the least smart, or the best or worst academics, or the best or worst reputation. Simply The Best. Are you zoned for a good district? That's not snark: two of the happiest days of my life were the day DD got into private school and the day we pulled her out. [ Reply | More ]

Very hard to generalize. Does everyone else in the industry know it's a crappy company? Does it have any hope to grow? Generally better to wait at the big place until you can move to a small GOOD/GREAT company that perhaps you can see growing into a bigger company. If you have a good seat with a respected name on your resume, you can be patient for the right move (the house is not on fire). Think about if the new company does not work out, how much of a tarnish will it leave for you? If you are young, no problem, but if you are 30s or above it might be worth waiting. [ Reply | More ]

Preemie mom: I was happy to get preemie/small sized sleepers, newborn stuff was HUGE for a long time. There are also some books on preemies I found helpful. If kids are going to be in NICU for a while, parents might appreciate something they can take to hospital for themselves - snacks etc.. As well, if you are mom of a preemie, will spend a lot of time pumping so I ended up going out to buy a few jobs that zipped in front - if you can find a nice one friend might appreciate. HTH...good luck to your friend! [ Reply | More ]

I almost forgive it on a bus b/c you're likely not on it for long. A plane you're a captive audience. I'll only believe the mom who said it didn't sound loud. I just think it was the manner the situation was presented that was irksome--as in "my kid is going to do something annoying, but it won't really be annoying b/c I pretend that no one will find it annoying so don't be angry with me if you get annoyed". the basic way is to connect and fly at night/early morning (assuming you can't fly odd dates because you'd have more hotel spending). I can't speak for OP, but I don't think that's the concern. The concern, for me at least, is that you can be very friendly with a family and think they're cool, but you may not feel comfortable leaving your kids with them. How do you know that the husband/boyfriend is not a child molester? How do you know they have child guards on their windows (NYC)? How do you know that they aren't leaving the kids unsupervised? How do you know there's no weird cousin or friend over at the house to molest your kid? [ Reply | More ]

There will be wealthy kids with wealthy families at both. The burb school can not exclude kids who have behavior issues or learning disabilities. [ - ] There is a ub 'consumer' who is on here 24/7 and jumps on every re-post with "You posted this already", often adding "Boring/not funny/stupid". Good reponses to this person: 27 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I do that sometimes because people don't acknowledge they're reposting. At least acknowledge it's been posted more than once because otherwise it just looks like you were either too lazy to read the answers the first time, or so self-involved that you think it takes multiple posts to fully analyze all 100 sides of the name Estelle [ Reply | More ]

And sometimes it's obvious people repost because they didn't like the answers from the first post. [ Reply | More ]

PP: I get it. I am here too much. And I don't love the reposts but I am not paying for UB and I don't know what the OP is getting out of the repost but maybe they are lonely or need validation. I have said again at times to people but I try hard to ignore and just move on to the next post. [ Reply | More ]
