[ - ] Wondering if anyone has heard about this happening before - friend was formally offered her dream job last Friday, new company was very excited to have her join them, etc. She called to accept today and also asked a couple of standard HR questions (benefits, review process). HR then told her not to give notice yet and they wanted to discuss some stuff internally. She got a VM this afternoon rescinding the offer and told her to call tomorrow so they can discuss it more. She is of course pissed off, and bewildered, worth talking to them? 15 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

OP - I can agree on the review not being standard, except her current company doesn't do them and has given 1 3% raise in 4 years, so she just wanted to see if they had a process. I really hope that wasn't the reason. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Both of my kids have had mild tics before and I have stopped them by making them aware and reminding them not to do it. About 3 weeks ago, dd (8) started a pretty bad one. Because it was so intense, I looked it up and the experts advise that she can't help it (obviously not true) and thus, we should ignore it or it will get worse. I have totally ignored it, but I am wondering how long I should continue that. It seems like letting it go will more deeply ingrain the habit. Anyone been there? Please list your personal experience. Thank you. 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

She and DH seemed to start out in the same place, but after 15 yrs of marriage he was a doctor and she was a massage therapist. Was just wondering, if this is your situation and you are the lower earning dw, does it make sense to make sure to invest in "hard" assets like real estate, during the marriage, so that you have something lasting to take with you in case of divorce? 9 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Well yeah but a house you both own would have to be sold or bought out. And you have no recourse to future income from the doctors job. But if you buy as an investment, a couple of small properties, one of those would be availAble for the lower Warner to either occupy long term, or continue to derive income from, in the case of a divorce [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] If we have a monthly housing payment of around 5800 including maint. and insurance and no other debt/payments besides regular bills (utilities, food) how much would you need to make to be comfortable paying for private for 1 child? Some childcare costs but they fluctuate as I have a flexible job and often don't need a sitter at all. Some camp in summer, vacations mainly to visit family (so no 10K + trips for spring break). 2 kids but would have at least 4 years with only one in private (MS) 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]
