So she's a senior now? Call me crazy, but I don't think you can just "decide" to take another year of college unless you've officially taken time off previously. Maybe if she left now she could count this semester, and come back for a semester next year, but that would be between her and the school. Of course, maybe your daughter is at some kind of special state or community college where you can do something like that. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Semi S/O from all of the cheats and divorces. I've been married for 12 years with 2 DC. I've never been very sexual. I just don't enjoy it with anyone and have never had an orgasm without a vibrator. Not even my own hands. Since DC #2 I've gained weight, and feel fat. I'm 45 pounds more now than prior to being pregnant with #2 (4 yo.). I love my DH, and think we have a solid relationship. After all of these posts the past few days im feeling like I better lose weight and force myself to want sex or else the shoe can drop without warning any time. Does anyone else have similar worries? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

am not flaming - I just want to know why sex is such a chore for you - maybe you haven't experienced someting that makes you feel good. [ - ] People often ask how East Asian women are able to look much younger than white women into their late 30's and 40's. Well, here's a big part of that - we steadfastly avoid the sun! When we see beaches full of white girls out "sunning" themselves, we think that they are basically turning their skin into leather jerky! And as it turns out, they are. 18 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

The sunscreens with the best UVA protection are best at suppressing free radical formation (Wang 2012b). Inadequate UVA protection is a persistent problem in products sold on the U.S. market. UV rays quickly break down avobenzone, the most common UVA filter in American sunscreens, unless it is mixed with a stabilizer. European sunscreens appear to provide greater free radical protection because they can contain superior UVA filters. In tests, 12 European sunscreens averaged a free radical protection factor of 13 (Wang 2011). The FDA’s weak regulations allow nearly every sunscreen to claim “broad spectrum,” or UVA, protection, even though some are much better than others. These weak rules give manufacturers little incentive to improve their products. To be truly effective at preventing skin damage and skin cancers, U.S. sunscreens need to provide better protection from UVA rays. This will not happen until the FDA sets higher requirements for UVA protection and approves the use of modern sunscreen ingredients with superior UVA filtering and stability. The FDA should ban the sale of sunscreens that provide poor UVA protection or approve a labeling system that classifies UVA protection as low, medium or high to enable consumers to choose the best products. In the absence of truly protective regulations, consumers are in the worst possible position: they are likely to think that their sunscreen is providing more protection than it really is, so they stay out longer in the sun and thereby increase their risk of skin cancer and skin damage. Kids are psyched to be graduating and, in TT HS are both excited about college and sad to be leaving their friends. It's the biggest deal in their lives up to that point. For the OP, what are your thoughts on Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Sweet Sixteen parties? Nothing is impressive. Christ, I went to an Ivy, and once you're in, everyone graduates unless they have personal or financial issues. Bottom line, celebrating a milestone, that up to that point is ones biggest mileatone, is a big deal. For UB, why spend money on a wedding when if you save it you know you get 1/2 back at your first divorce? In summary, that's a silly question. [ Reply | More ]

hate, hate, hate facetime. called dh's brother on the landline to wish a happy bday to our niece. he didn't pick up and instead called us back on FaceTime and it proceeded to be a nightmare bragging session, complete with a house tour. barf. [ Reply | More ]

+1000, My MIL loves to FaceTime from out of state at the most inconvenient times!! she's like, "ohhh let me see the kids," just when I finally got them to sit down and do HW! [ Reply | More ]

Facetime creeps me out... I don't know why. I don't even like to FT DH when he's traveling on business. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Anyone have "friends" who only call/text when they need something from you? I have a friend and we go away back to college days and I don't remember her being this way then but now that we are both moms with kids she only gets in touch when she needs something or has a question about something. If I text her she usually does not respond. Is this a common phenomena? 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Yes, my SIL. I get along with her fine, and she's nice enough, but I only ever hear from her when she needs something. [ Reply | More ]

Does she respond to her texts/calls? [ Reply | More ]

Not immediately. Usually within her own sweet time. She ignores some and then apologizes for not getting back to the text last time, so I know she sees them. [ Reply | More ]

Well at least she apologizes. My friend just completely ignores my text - no response until she wants to get in touch again for whatever reason and then responds. I just don't understand how she can think that's ok. [ Reply | More ]

Oh yeah. Have one who is exactly like this. I only hear from her when she needs a professional favor. She wasn't always like this. [ Reply | More ]

Really? She is the only person I have in my circle who acts this way. We are all busy people obviously and I am cool for her reaching out when she needs something but not responding to my calls/texts when she does not - this part I just find so bizarre and rude. [ Reply | More ]

i have an acquaintance like that. it took me about 5 min to figure out what was going on and since then i'm friendly but give her a wide berth and don't expect anything. if i feel like responding to her requests, i do and if i don't, i don't. [ Reply | More ]

I have a friend who is kind of like this. I feel like I only hear from her when she needs advice about something. On the other hand, I figure that I could reach out more (she's usually responsive when I do, but won't necessarily initiate unless she has a reason). I haven't ended the friendship over it, but I keep it in mind so that I don't expect more than what I know she has to give. [ Reply | More ]
