I can't answer your question but it can't hurt for you to ask the card company. I was recently in the UK and was unable to use any of my credit cards in a couple of stores as they weren't ones with chips. The stores there mostly could still swipe my cards but not all. GL [ Reply | More ]

no: ACtually, it's more of a fraud benefit to the card company. Still, when you get a card with a chip in the US, it doesn't have a PIN like the European cards do. The chips and PINs protect the card company by keeping fraud down. [ Reply | More ]

Don't tell her what to do. She has to come to that on her own. She probably thinks that she can fix this and also probably my feels guilty at the thought of leaving, as if breaking up the famiky would be her fault. Suggest that she might need help dealing with this situation and the feelings it brings up (use non judgmental words) and offer to pay for a therapist for her. You could even find one and make her first appointment for her. [ Reply | More ]

when my dh hit me for the 5th time in 20 years I began to explore divorce and presented it him 6 months later after meeting with attorneys and my own research. we have 2 dcs. he got really scared. we walked the divorce gangplank for a few months. we are in counseling now, mostly for financial reasons (he has serious spending problems). but the spectre of divorce is still there and he has been very humbled. he is behaving himself in a way he never did before. he is also controlling his spending better. but, yes, my siblings probably have serious issues with seeing my dh as you do. i sympathize with them because i have problems with respecting my dh too. when they start doing this crap, it is nothing but an upward climb for them in terms of respectability. Get her alone as much as possible, several nights at a time is key. dh was emotionally abusive and after a few days away with family I burst into tears at the prospect of going home. it took a while to relax and realize how bad things were in contrast. encourage her to see a therapist, buy books, give her a bag full of cash and a burner phone and number of a lawyer if you have it. tell her to come see you and take pictures if he does it again and she hasn't left yet. good luck. help her develop exit plan. consult attorney on divorce, photocopy paperwork, hide money. Tell her how to do it and get her set up with the paper work "just in case." Then she will do it. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Working moms. I've been stuck in the same position at work for a few years now. I've recently realized that the career path I want is not available in my current company but I'm not likely to land anything anywhere else with my current experience. I was recently offered a position with a big raise (that I really need) but it is not what I want to do career wise. I am pretty sure I will be unhappy in the new position (high turn over role) but I am also unhappy in current position and really need a better title and salary to go anywhere. The new position will at least give me a better salary history and experience (leverage to get out I dont have now) but the experience may not qualify me for positions that I really want. [ - ] When looking at this case with Ray Rice and his now wife who he punched in the face and dragged by the hair, I wonder what you ladies would do? Would you marry a man that hit you so hard that you were knocked unconcious? What if he had the money that this football player has? Would you walk away or stick with him? 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Op. So would I. I know that allegedly she swing first but to hit back is just so...wrong. Both were wrong. [ Reply | More ]

We don't, and never will know the whole story. I wouldn't judge. She's accustomed to a lifestyle. Where else would she go? Back to where she came from, which probably isn't so great? [ Reply | More ]

What? A pro football player punched his wife so hard she fell unconscious? I would get a restraining order and run far away. [ Reply | More ]

By the lack of uproar on this issue I think you have your answer. Yes, yes they would stay. [ Reply | More ]

Imo-It gets slow here around dinnertime. I think that maybe if this was posted at a time when there is more traffic here that there would be more responses, whatever they might be. [ Reply | More ]

Unconscious? no. I probably would justify a shove or grabbing my arms and then have issues later, but losing consciousness would definitely make me leave (and I'm an idiot) [ Reply | More ]
