[ - ] Starting to think about summer vacation plans and I would love your input. We have 3 dcs - 4, 6 and 8 - and have taken easy trips the last few years to Cape Cod, Sea Island, Disney. I am hoping we can spread our wings a little more now that they aren't tiny and want something that involves learning about another culture, seeing something historic. Ideally, we would combine a few days of "experience" with a retreat to a beach resort and keep everyone happy. Where would you go if that was the goal? 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Biarritz, France. We were there last summer for two weeks and loved it so much! It's on the Atlantic, so it doesn't have a Mediterranean/South of France vibe, but it's a really cool European surfer beach town. Totally hip, great food and people. Loved Loved Loved. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] WWYD? I have a cousin who is about 60-65? yo and divorced. No DC. She has her own business that's not making a ton of money and pretty much always broke, and ask me to borrow money. This time she asked about $600 that she needs for her apartment (she's renting). Her parents passed away after the family business which my cousin was in kind of fail and sold the house. Her sisters cut her off financially and not helping. I'm really tired of bailing her out. I recently had a DC and have a bit less cash flow. Also she borrows money from a lot of relatives including my mom etc and kind of used to just borrow and never really pay back. But if I don't lend, pretty much everyone has cut her off and she may be really in trouble. 14 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I think she won't be able to come to borrow again if she thinks I'm really expecting her to pay back what she borrowed. So I asked her what month she can start paying back. Also she told me she may have breast cancer and depressed about money. So I said if you have breast cancer how she's going to pay me back then she changes the story like it may be just stress. I have more respect for a guy who can man up and take responsibility for his family and provide for them without leaning on his wife. If she wants to work, that's all fine and great, but expecting her to work seems unmanly to me and unattractive and beta male. A real man provides for his family. Call me sexist if you want, but women are accepting a rigged game when it comes to this modern form of feminism that equates female power with acting more like men. I will teach my daughters not to accept that narrative. They will be strong and pursue their dreams, and they will also choose a husband who can support and care for them. [ Reply | More ]

1950s alert. "Manning up" can also mean supporting the family - including his wife in her career. Look after the home front - and be the counsel and support and rock for the high-earning DW, is JUST as valuable and "manly" as earning the money. [ Reply | More ]

Honestly? Depends on what her career is. I don't NOT respect someone whose dw SAH, that's fine, but if a guy's DW was really, really smart and had a great career doing something awesome (like a doctor, not like a VP of PR in some corporation) I would make me think he appreciates women with good qualities. Many people are not going to like this answer and are going to respond that "SAH to raise a family IS really important, blah blah blah", but there it is. [ Reply | More ]

So you're saying you respect a man more if his wife has a more prestigious career? [ - ] Ok, sorry if this is TMI/too graphic, but do any of you have a DH who sometimes seems to have trouble getting a full erection? How do you handle it? My sex life with my husband is great-- except when he doesn't seem to get fully hard, but nevertheless wants to continue having sex. It doesn't really feel that good (from my perspective) when this happens. Is it possible that he is enjoying it? I have noticed that it tends to happen after we have been drinking-- which is too bad, bc I prefer to have a drink or two beforehand to loosen up. Any advice about how to address this issue? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

How old? Normal, sadly. He may still be enjoying it, but the alcohol may be dulling his sensations / reducing the stimulation. More worrying if it happens frequently when he's not been drinking - potential ED (treatable), or his body is betraying how it truly feels (e.g., perhaps just not that into you sexually anymore / lost the spark, etc.). Tread gently when discussing with him - don't be critical - making him feel worse than he already does will likely only make the problem worse. [ Reply | More ]
