I can guarantee you this doesn't happen in the suburbs. For one thing, people don't presume that kids are in private, it's the exception, not the norm. Second, most public schools have names you wouldn't recognize anyway. "She goes to Gardner Elementary" means absolutely nothing and could be in any random town. I have almost no idea what the names of the elementary schools are even in the towns that border mine. It's just not something that comes up with most people you meet cold. On the other hand, if you meet a fellow parent through private, they're generally interested in what privates you have chosen for your other children. In our case we have a very good boys private school in the area, with no equivalent for the girls. People always want to know where you are sending your daughters and if you've found something you like. [ Reply | More ]

I feel like I channel her all,the time in my dealings with suburban moms. I don't even mean too, but whenever I'm on group emails, I feel like my replies don't use enough exclamation points, emoticons, and ultra positive adjectives, my Dd is in sports, and everyone is so cheerleader like in these group emails. 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] My house is full of Irish immigrant construction workers right now. They seem to come in two personality flavors: super friendly/charming, and hostile/misanthropic. Either way, they all look pretty bleary eyed in the morning, so I try not to talk to them until the hangovers have worn off. Anyone else experienced this? I don't really care, but it's just interesting. 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

No, but I think that is typical of construction workers in general. I know someone who is from a particular part of Ireland that is famous for having a hard to understand accent. 'At some point during the filming [of Lucas], he explained an adult male convinced him that it was perfectly normal for older men and younger boys in the business to have sexual relations, that it was what all "guys do," wrote Feldman. 'So they walked off to a secluded area between two trailers, during a lunch break for the cast and crew, and Haim, innocent and ambitious as he was, allowed himself to be sodomized.' -- They get away with this because they're JEWS. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I don't know if I could do it long enough to make real money without being able to drink water. i think I could do the tv dinners, but i don't think i could drink only the soda (and I really loved soda growing up -- but even then having it as my sole source of hydration would have been very difficult). Np, if you can eat tv dinners, figure out a way to collect all that ice. Eat that [ Reply | More ]

Your not allowed to eat the ice, only the dinner. Do you really want to risk losing your winnings over this technicality? [ Reply | More ]

i really don't think i could do the sugar drinks only for 28 weeks -- which is when you would break over $1,000,000. [ Reply | More ]

How do the food costs factor in? Obviously you can't buy a tv dinner with $0.01. Are you permitted to use existing funds to purchase the food? If so, in 38 weeks you'd have over $1 billion. I could certainly eat tv dinners for less than a year for that. [ Reply | More ]

I believe after 12 weeks you'd have $40.95 - swanson and soda costs (you'd still be net out of pocket). [ Reply | More ]

Wait you can't drink water and the only options are caffeinated sodas? Can you do ginger ale instead? Otherwise, I'd try to find the most liquid meals I could (soups, etc.). [ Reply | More ]

Maybe my math is wrong, but after 15 weeks of killing my digestive system I would only get $163.84, and have to pay for the "food" out of that. Why would any sane person do this [ Reply | More ]

I still think I'd do it until a few hundred million. It would mean lifetime financial security for me and my family. Fortunately for me, I have a cast-iron stomach and I'm pretty fit and healthy so I don't think it would have long-term effects. [ Reply | More ]
