His upper body (shoulder and chest) still looks like a little boy. He was always built this way since he was a baby, but now that he is older it seems more pronounced. Will any of this even out as he gets older? Should he work his arms/chest out to build them up a bit? He's getting to an age where he is getting made fun of for the belly. The only reason it will hold him back is if you tell him it will hold him back. It's his body, it's how he was built. Just encourage him to be accepting of himself. This will all be different soon, everything changes through adolescence. After that, if he sees something he doesn't like about his body, he can change it himself. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] s/o of post discussing friends who meet a guy and then disappear. I have the opposite issue with one of my friends. When she was with her long term BF and thought she was on the way to getting married, she always wanted to hang out and have girls nights. However, after things didn't work out and she and BF broke up, she seems to prefer hanging out with her single/unmarried friends now. I am not sure if its due to an issue of resentment or jealousy or maybe we just have less in common now. Either way, its slightly hurtful to me because we had become really close. 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I made as much money as I possibly could before having kids, and we saved it all. Now, I'm a very ordinary suburban SAHM-- there's no nanny, cleaning lady, or expensive fitness classes happening. Don't pretend like you're some flimsy little pushover who just happenstanced into your life. No one believes you, and it's insulting to women everywhere to act like we don't make conscious choices in how we live our lives. Unless you want to tell the story of being laid off or unless someone asks for details, I think the question of "what do you do? Should be answered with "I'm a SAHM", not "I'm a SAHM, but I never planned on being a SAHM."
