[ - ] The AP, which still has egg on its face from this morning's false report that Hillary would concede to Obama, does it again. The AP is sending out a breaking news report, complete with post-mortem analysis, that Obama has reached the magic number and is officially the nominee. Votes are cast at the convention in August. Superdelegates can change their mind any time before then. If this went to an open convention, even pledged delegates would be released from their pledge after the first vote. This does not mean it's going to the convention. It means that until one candidate drops out, there can be no winner because the number of delegates that candidate has can change any time until the convention. 21 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Until and unless Hillary Clinton publicly suspends or ends her campaign and concedes that Obama is the nominee, there is no nominee. There is only a statement that if current delegate positions at this moment were frozen in time until August he would be the nominee. If and when Hillary makes that determination, then Obama will be the nominee. At that point TalkLeft will congratulate him and offer him our support. We're not there yet. [ Reply | More ]

The Clinton campaign has sent out a press release denying the AP report. She will not suspend her campaign tonight nor will she concede Obama is the defacto winner. I just got off the phone with her internet communications director who told me he just received a copy. So now the AP is falling for a story the only effect of which would be voter suppression in two states? How do these things happen? [ Reply | More ]

np: i disagree. (not saying you are wrong, just that i disagree). either the dc will be fine or he won't be fine. if he's fine, he'll be fine when you go to give birth too. if he's not fine, you'll just have a lot of guilty feelings when you have to go give birth. might as well just deal with it when the time comes. If you limit how much DC drinks two hours before bed and have them go to the bathroom the second before lights out - you should be fine. DS just turned five and just night trained. With pull-up he was lazy and he frequently woke up with a wet one. Has slept in underwear 2 weeks now and no accidents even on the night I forgot about the new rules and gave him chocolate milk before bed. [ Reply | More ]

you can put her in underwear at night now if you want as long as you don't mind changing the pee soaked sheets once a week. My ds is almost 5 and still is in a pull up at night. He's waking up dry or dryer more often than 6 mos ago but I won't take him out of the pull up til he has about 2 mos straight of dry pull ups. Older ds was night trained by 3 1/2...just random luck [ Reply | More ]

We took our DD to the toilet just before we'd go to bed for almost a year after she was out of diapers--she'd pee without really waking up, and then make it through the night dry. Very successful, and also she was so cute. [ Reply | More ]
