We are for floors/walls. Master bath will be slate floor (wavering on similar look for shower walls, or a mosaic mix of glass/stone. Hall (kid) bath will be cream crackle subway tile with a creamy tan floor (not sure of exact material, I think the look of travertine...unless I'm confusing my stones.) Only tiling floor and tub/shower area. Walls will be warm cream in kid bath, possibly gray in master. [ Reply | More ]

I have tried so hard to control it. yesterday my dd who is 4 said ",mommy, you yell almost every day". I felt like jumping off a bridge. That which doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. I had a friend who NEVER raised her voice - - her child literally fell apart in school the first time the teacher raised her voice. However, I would start to do something about the quality of your life (literally.. YOUR life) by expanding your horizons intellectually or creatively because I suspect you are misplacing anger and dumping it on your dh. [ Reply | More ]

it's totally not too late. in fact, it's a fantastic lesson for a child to learn...that people can change negative behavior. part of dealing with this for the health of your family is allowing your dd to see that people can be imperfect and really work hard to change their behaviors and choices. Whatever damage you fear may have been done by your yelling until now can be outweighed by the positive effect of seeing you really work to turn this around and heal the family dynamic (past and present). I think it is great that you are so troubled by it b/c it means that you are really motivated to change it. [ Reply | More ]

I agree with above that it is never to late to change that. I grew up in a "loud" household and my parents yelled plenty. I did not love it, but I understood that sometimes grown ups raise their voices. I avoid exposing dd to yelling as much as possible so that she can learn that there are better ways to have conversations. That being said she said to me yesterday "mommy why are you mean to me" she was referring to me being stern with her (and yes a bit louder but not yelling) i explained that i was not being mean etc. [ Reply | More ]

I will be 44 in a few weeks. Had a m/c a year ago February, possibly another one (very early) this March. Didn't ttc right away after last year's, I wasn't ready to dive back in emotionally. Now ttc since december. Not going to see RE. If it works great (would love sib for 2.5 yo ds - both dh and I come from large families) but if it doesn't, we'll have one great ds. or: Don't feel that way about age. My mother was young when she had me, and passed away 5 yrs ago, so you really can never say about that. I did see an RE, my FSH is low, eggs are "good for my age", etc. I had a MC last yr too (end of May) and, same thing, waited to start ttc again just was too wiped out. I am giving iui a chance - no meds, no big deal, but better odds I'm told. My dd is 3 - I'd love to have a sib for her, but know it just might not happen. It's hard, cause most people can't imagine ttc at my age, so I generally don't talk to anyone about it. How long did you ttc before getting pg the last 2 times? [ Reply | More ]
