this is OP: it's definitely not my period, it was a very small/light amount (maybe the size of a dime? sorry of TMI), and my period isn't due for another 5-7 days. this is only our first time TTC. The prenatal screening options can be very confusing. I am a genetic counselor in Bklyn, and I spend a lot of time explaining the difference to both the patients and the providers. Do you mind if I ask what OB office you went to? I used Dr. Carmen Llopiz out of Maimonides. I loved her, but I can't say I was happy with the hospital at the time of delivery. I can recommend a few folks that I work with (the ones that know their stuff, obviously) that my patients are really, really happy with. I will watch the post. [ Reply | More ]

I just want to counter some of the nastiness you are experiencing--your situation sucks, and I believe you that the staff probably was rude and communication was poor. Unfortunately, that is just the way it is. I've come to accept this. I'm from a family of physicians. On the one hand, they can't believe the lousy service I receive from drs who take no insurance. On the other hand, I know my brother has had a lot of trouble with his staff. Dr's offices are rarely well managed. In part, it is the nature of the beast--patients and their problems are unpredictable, offices that take insurance must spend a lot of time on the phone with insurance cos instead ofpatients. On the other hand, Drs are not great managers of their staffs. I'm sorry this happened to you. GL [ Reply | More ]

Physician here. My office staff sucks. Rude. Incompetent. Unfortunately part of group practice so office staff doesn't answer to me, only to the office manager. I have no hire fire control so it translates to crappy service. I spend half my office visits apologizing to my patients. I feel for my patients, but at the same time they get what they pay for (if they have managed care), a cash only practice should be expected to provide higher level of service. [ Reply | More ]

Parents have approached me to say that after watching her with our daughter at the playground, they’ve asked to her come work for them. Maria allowed my partner and I to return to work free of worry or concern after our respective maternity leaves. She is conscientious, energetic and very sweet with our daughter. Prompt and dependable, Maria keeps the house and our daughter's things clean and tidy, and she is often able to stay late and baby-sit on weekends. She is sweet, affectionate and respectful with our daughter—who sprints to the door when she hears the knock in the morning, and throws her arms around Maria each night before she leaves. Maria reads and sings constantly with her, and as much as we’d like to think that it was us, it was Maria who taught her to count and learn her letters. She brought her to infant music class, and now to the library, toddler art, soccer and Gymboree classes; on occasion she has brought her to pediatrician appointments. Maria is a parent herself (to a 17 year old), and we have learned a tremendous amount from her. We’d like to help her find a family that will love her as much as we do. Ideally, she is interested in taking care of a newborn or infant. She can start in late July, or any time in August or September. If you know anyone that might like to work with Maria, please pass along my info: 646 872 0173. Thank you!! 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Two weeks is not standard. corporate America don't give severance unless you work for 1 full year and is let go NOT due to poor performance. How would nanny get much better terms than me, who works for corporate America? [ Reply | More ]

Whatever, but when you tell someone who was depending on you to LIVE that you are firing them without notice expect them to lose it. She won't eat next week, but why you should you care? WHO IS ENTITLED, Ms. Park Slope? [ Reply | More ]

And my family's livelihood also depends on my employer too but I won't get 2 weeks severance if they decide to fire me tomorrow, will I? 2 weeks severance is a lot of money to me too. Don't forget I also work to make a living. Maybe you don't. [ Reply | More ]

If you can't afford help don't hire help. I am sick and tired of these demanding cheap ass parents who want supernanny to do every thing while they moan and groan over the fact that they have to pay over $10 p/h. Sorry that slaves aren't available anymore, but when you hire someone you are in some way responsible for them. [ Reply | More ]
