[ - ] how is it that I had a stomach virus and didn't eat for a week, yet I still have this stupid rubber tire on my stomach. And in general, I eat a protein bar for breakfast green salad no dressing for lunch and a sensible dinner plus I run 3.5 miles 4 days a week! WTF! 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

that doesn't sound like nearly enough food for your level of activity (or even for sedentary people). your metabolism must be shot. [ Reply | More ]

np - start to eat more gradually b/c your metabolism has slowed down to compensate for lack of food - you need more protein, eat dinner early, bigger breakfast like bran cereal and banana..... [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] DH and I are looking to spend about 550K for a house. There is a lot for sale in the town we are looking at. DH think we should buy it and build a house on it. I think that is a crazy idea! The lot is for sale for $300K (he thinks he can get it much lower because it's been sitting there) and it is covered in trees. Is this idea crazy??? It sounds like a HUGE undertaking and building a house can't be cheap, right? 15 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

yes, that is crazy and keep in mind that it is much harder to get a loan for buying land and building than for buying a house. [ Reply | More ]

^^^ although I'm guessing at least part of it is that when you buy a house, the bank has an asset it can take back. When you say you're building a house, you just have plans, no actual asset. [ Reply | More ]

The owner of Blu Dot furniture has a kit house called FlatPak that's really cool. It's efficient, quality control as it's manufactured in a factory, and quick construction. But it's still pricey per sf. Worth checking out the website, tho. [ Reply | More ]

You are going to spend way more than $250K to build a house. You have to do all the paperwork with the town board, bring in utilities, clear trees/excavate. [ Reply | More ]

Figure you'll pay a premium for custom. Builders save a lot of time knowing how to build lets say four models of home efficiently. On top of that, everytime you look at an item, you are gonna say, "Go with the good one. We're gonna be here for a long time..." That said, I would still look into it. [ Reply | More ]

it's too early for an actual BEDTIME but starting at 12 wks we established a ROUTINE (he went down but it was a crapshoot how long he'd stay down!). upstairs at 5, bath, play, sing, swaddle, nurse, bed. he's now 10 mos and still goes up at 5:30, bath, bottle and bed by 6:15pm the latest! so there's something to be said...!
