Being faithful and true to the one that you love is beautiful and natural. We are not animals. We have advanced minds and the ability to think and choose. Monogamy might be hard for you, but that doesn't make it unnatural. Sorry [ Reply | More ]

ITA. It works for our kids and it's how things are done, but it isn't natural... I mean really, how many women really want to have sex with their husbands ? really... I love my DH, but there are many other "flavors" out there that look might tasty. I just will have to stick with the one I've got since this is how life / society works... [ Reply | More ]

are you asking priv or public and do you mean UWS or downtown? 2 good UWS public elementary schools are 199 and 87 but neither has preK anymore. As for private there Calhoun (starts in nursery), Columbia grammar and Ethical which have preK. There are more, with priv don't limit yourself by location. Get V Goldman book and apply to all the privates with 3's pgms then just be happy if you get in. [ Reply | More ]

I think PS87 fills up w/ catchment siblings. Hard to get in out-of-catchment. I think, too, that you would have to reapply for K if you somehow got in out of catchment anyway. [ Reply | More ]

You can check insideschools.org to see which ones have pre-K on UWS, but DOE has changed the process, it's all centralized now. Insideschools generally has the best info on the process for both pre-K and K as it continues to evolve, and it's good to do research there because you will need to rank choices. [ Reply | More ]

they make car seat bags - one kind has wheels so you can pull it like luggage and another kind has backpack straps so you can carry it. We got ours at a local store, but i know you can find them online. try one step ahead. [ Reply | More ]

just an idea, but ours once got put in the plastic bag and then disappeared. turns out it never left our home city and when we got to our destination it was a serious hassle. you may want to rethink and gatecheck it [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I'm exploring the possibility of getting a mid-size terrier so I've been walking a friend's dog to get the hang of it. Surprisingly, it's pleasant (even the picking up isn't such a terrible thing). And dog runs have nice people and dogs in them. Any of you own a mid-size terrier - like the American Wheaten terrier? Scottish terriers are lovely too. But I'm still not sure which breed to get. 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

No input on terriers for you, sorry. But just a note - walking a friend's dog & having one full time are vastly different. Do you have the time & energy to give a dog? I hate when super busy people get dogs & just leave them sitting at home all the time. Not fair. If you do have the time, they are so rewarding. Nothing like someone being excited when you come home, whether you've been gone for 3 minutes or 3 hours. Enjoy! [ Reply | More ]

Love Wheatens. Keep in mind that they are very playful dogs, don't love being left alone and will chew on furniture and rugs out of "resentment" Happened with my parents when they had a Wheaten. [ Reply | More ]

OP - I agree - my friend's Wheaten has chewed every piece of furniture and every shoe. But they seem very loveable dogs. Another favorite I like to look at is the Japanese Sheba - it looks like a red fox with a crew cut - beautiful face. And the huskie dogs - all sizes - really wonderful. So hard to choose because dog breeds are so different. I see a lot of West Highland white terriers all over the place. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] anyone btdt with a nanny share and can give advice? am considering a share with another family, with nanny's primary duty to care for 1 yo (theirs) & infant (mine) at the other family's house, but she would also pick up our 3 year olds from preschool (we have one each, both are in the same class) 5 days a week and watch them for an hour or two at the end of each day. primary concern at this point is insurance/liability; any one know how that works if one or more of the children involved (mine) do not live in the home where they are cared for? this would be in NJ, in case that means anything . . . 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

op: the woman we are looking to share with (the nanny's current employer) had heard that at some point if you have a caregiver in your house and depending on the number of children, at some number you automatically become an official "daycare center" and subject to the same insurance/legal considerations as an employer and especially if god forbid anything happened in your house to either the employee or the kids.
