That's BS. Many tt colleges have needs blind admission, which means that anything your financial aid doesn't cover is covered directly by the school. That's how I made it through an Ivy League school with no mother and a father who spent the remainder of my childhood after my mom died sprawled drunk on the kitchen floor working during sudden bouts of clarity. As for student loans, I paid those off within five years thanks to my work. I now support my school financially and hope I'm helping many students who were like me. [ Reply | More ]

I would think they'd get more. Some people only apply to tts (as they'd go public if they don't get a spot) and others whose kids have high scores don't want to be brokered so don't apply to lower tier schools. [ Reply | More ]

TT is like a lottery everyone plays. Non-TTs receive applications as safeties (which most people do) or as reach schools. It's hard to say. [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 09.04.08, 05:29 PM Flag

Right. Most people apply to tt and to non tt "safeties". Generally, though, people don't apply to a huge number of safeties (we applied to 2 for our dc--as well as 5 tts). So I think tts get the most applicants. [ Reply | More ]

I think it depends on the ERB score (if the parents have it on them) or what the parents expect their kids to get on the ERB. 95+, yes, they will apply to more TTs than safeties. Low 90's, maybe evenly. Below 90, probably more safeties than TTs. [ Reply | More ]
