very few places will do drop off at that age. JCC has a pre-nursery program that would take her. [ Reply | More ]

Many preschools start older - 2.7 at best. You may want to check in your area. For her, no rush to go to preschool, for you perhaps to get some free time. Otherwise lots of classes for her age range available in the city. [ Reply | More ]

How old is db? You can start to get onto a schedule tomorrow if you want. What is the current rhythm that you are in and maybe people can tell you what kind of schedule they have for db of that age with similar number of naps. [ Reply | More ]

he's 1 yr; he doesn't do CIO and i cannot get him on a schedule. especially b/c DH wakes him up early when going to work - 5:30 AM. so DB is tired during day. [ Reply | More ]

np: you can get a schedule going without cio. sounds like he gets up at about the same time every day - most 1 yos take 2 naps - so do whatever you do to get him to sleep at around 9:30 and then again around 2 - then pick a bedtime. he will fall into roughly that schedule within a week or so [ Reply | More ]

Yes, and if you are intent on moving to the burbs - this will be a nice transition. There are worse things than Forest Hills, it is a fairly easy commute into Manhattan and it is a neighborhood with lots of green and good schools if you can't move before dc reaches school age. [ Reply | More ]

well, you'll pay commission on the sale, that will be $27K less. so you'll have 50K plus 150K less 27K. So, $173K? and you have to have $$ left in savings to satisfy the mortgage lender, so lets say you get lucky and can put 150 down. you need 20% these days, so 750K? can you afford a 600K mortgage on 250K? Don't see why not, but don't plan on buying any furniture. [ Reply | More ]

So, you can put close to 200K down? You don't want a mortgage any higher than 750, so look at houses in the 850 to 925 range. [ Reply | More ]

mmm I am surprised that people in those areas stick up their noses at Hastings and Irvington. I am the person that posted below about both towns. I prefer them to Ardsley, which does not have its own train station. I don't know Briar Cliff and Pleasantville but will think they are fairly country if not more so too. By the way, Hastings is considered to be a very artsy and crunchy place too. [ Reply | More ]

They are not gross just very country, so not like Larchmont, Mamaroneck or Rye which have more of an UWS meets 'burbs feel and where there is more to do outside your home and less of a culture shock moving from NYC. They both have good schools, can be quite hilly in parts especially Hastings. Irvington for instance does not have a pool or little league and has one or two central playgrounds....so that gives you an idea, most people with big lots and nice houses there tend to have their own pool and playset in the back if you know what I mean.
