[ - ] My formerly low maintenance two year old is so needy these days. She got used to having her two older sisters home with her this summer. Now, she's either at her preschool - which she loves - or home with only me. She used to play independently while I got stuff done. Now she is literally on top of me all day long. Won't even watch a tv show unless I sit next to her. Anyone have a toddler who went through this phase and did anything you do help it pass by more quickly? 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

even if seh loves preschool, its a big transition adn can raise separation issues. i'm guessing this phase will pass when seh feels a bit more confident about that. [ Reply | More ]

op: interesting to get two of these answers. i guess that could be it. didn't consider it since she begs to go to school every day (she only attends 2 days a week.) i really think she just wants more entertainment than i am able to provide and has become accustomed to having people around. maybe it is a separation thing but she shows none of it at drop off or pick up. it could be that too, but it sounds like a lot of change (even if it is change she likes) and it may take her a while to settle in to her new routine. Maybe she can go to school 3X a week if she continues to love it? [ Reply | More ]

I have no experience with those type of preschool applications (thank god - sounds like total bs to me) but I think potty training is totally relevant. I mean, what other "challenges" has your preschooler had to face? Finishing a marathon? Completing a dissertation? It's really a silly question for this age. [ Reply | More ]

it's for an a nursery through 12 school so i guess they expectations are different in terms of answers to this question. if dd was applying to kindergarten I could probably think of something but still, it doesn't help when you're trying to respond about a 2 year old! [ Reply | More ]

Your child is two? Can you be honest and say that she hasn't had a real challenges in her short two years and then maybe write about something challenging you dealt with as a parent? I mean - at two, any challenge they "overcome" has more to do with parenting than the child's willingness to tackle a challenge. [ Reply | More ]

There's really very little caffeine in candy vs. say, coffee. Check out the March of Dimes: http://www.marchofdimes.com/pnhec/159_816.asp (unless you ate like 7 gallons, in which case I bet you would still be fine but that would be gross!) [ Reply | More ]

Actually, eating a bite of chocolate daily has been linked with a decreased risk of miscarriage (see the paper "Risk factors for first trimester miscarriage--results from a UK-population-based case-control study", by Maconochie and coworkers and mentioned at http://www.naturalnews.com/021272.html). I have had four mcs and wish you luck. [ Reply | More ]
