Best way is through word of mouth. Tell friends, colleagues, etc. that you are looking for a nanny. I have found this way to be the most effective. [ Reply | More ]

Craig's List is the best place as long as you do your homework. DO NOT use Absolute Best Care. I got burned by them, and payed a fortune. [ Reply | More ]

ita. he seems to prefer princeton and says he doesn't care about the commute. but I'm worried he'll tire of it. he does work downtown, though, which evens it out a bit. [ Reply | More ]

I think you can't go wrong with those choices. Princeton HS is very good and there are great privates around too, the town is cute, although the restaurants are eh, the surrounding area is more farmish/suburban (route 1 is all strip malls and motels), and I'm not sure if there is a nice town pool, but I would think it has better swimming options than Larchmont (the clubs are so expensive there). The commute is way worse than the Larchmont commute though. Larchmont is cute, my friends there have really made friends right away, their houses and plots are small for the money, but they love it. i've wondered about the clubs in larchmont. are they hard to get into? do you have any idea how much they cost? i can't find the information anywhere (not surprising, I know) -- but this is the kind of thing that might make a difference to how much we like the area. wish it weren't so hard to find out.... Go to Beth Israel/ New York Eye and Ear or NYU and have sedated ABR done so you will have gold standard. You must have diagnosis. You cannot tell if your child is hearing impaired by living with your child. My son was misdiagnosed. Now he has a hearing aid and a cochlear implant. But spent many months without them because I thought I could tell ... [ Reply | More ]

Go to NYU or Beth Israel/New York Eye and Ear and have an ENT do a sedated ABR so you will have gold standard. It MUST be diagnosed by an ENT not a parent. You cannot tell. My son is hearing impaired. He was diagnosed late because I thought I could tell. Late to put on his hearing aid. I could have helped him sooner. No harm in following my advice. [ Reply | More ]

We also had ABR @ NYU at 6mos, I think. also - please call the League for the Hard of Hearing - check it out online - they are the BEST in the city for any kind of issue and deal with lots of infants with these kinds of questions. My son has significant hearing loss in one ear and is doing great - but you need to know what you're dealing with to get proper care for your child. VERY IMPORTANT! [ Reply | More ]
