[ - ] Multiple episodes of Real Housewives of NYC was recently broadcast on Bravo. I have some questions for posters who are familiar with the school application process. First, was Francois undergoing the ERB when he was filmed during an evaluation? Alex wrote in her blog on Bravo, "Reports overall on F’s evaluations have been excellent." She did not report any scores, however. (Some posters have noted that the written report for ERBs is effusively positive regardless of the child's scores.) Second, will Alex's graphic nude "modeling" sessions with pornographer/photographer Bob Coulter effect Francois' admission to tt private schools? 9 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Not erb. Some two bit shrink pretending to do Stanford Binet for the camera. Child ended up at zoned public per season 1 finale--he's, at best, average. No private school would touch that dc with a ten foot pole even IF his parents hadn't been on RHONY (to say nothing of the photos). [ Reply | More ]

Do children receive numerical scores for Stanford Binet? Alex did not share any quantified results, although she wrote Francois is a "sophisticated communicator and excels in verbal abstract reasoning as well as visual spatial reasoning." Are these phrases typical in Stanford Binet results? [ Reply | More ]

There are numerical scores for all IQ tests. This one, though, was clearly done solely for the camera. What was shown was probably the whole "test". [ Reply | More ]

Alex did not actually attribute the description of Francois (a "sophisticated communicator and excels in verbal abstract reasoning as well as visual spatial reasoning") to the evaluator shown the series. She vaguely writes "we have been told he is a sophisticated communicator. . . " [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] wwyd? boy in dc's kindergarten class is always in trouble. he can't sit still, hits, pushes, shoves, doesn't follow directions. you get the picture. anyway, i have been volunteering once a week and while he is a sweet kid i can see how he can be a drain on the teacher. so today i am leaving and his mom is picking him up in her beat up car and she looks and acts wired on coke. actually, i can't say for sure that she was the mom, but she is a caregiver nonetheless. anyway, obviously he has tons of home issues from the one minute i observed her - she also did some random stop in the middle of the road as parents were trying to pull out and seemed to be trying to do something. the look on the boys faces in the back seat looked like they were scared. so my question is, since i have a good rapport with dc's teacher, should i mention my observation? i can just say something like, "have you meant his mother" or something. or just mmob. he is always in trouble - but he's just 5! - and i would be doing it to help him, not punish him more if that makes any sense. 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

i have no idea if she gives them coke. it was him and his older brother (a year or two older) in the car. she just looked like a big mess. and yes, if you've only seen someone coked out in movies: that's what she looked like. skinny, dark circles under her eyes that were bugging out and looking rapidly this way and that. and her jaw was twitching. clear signs of some kind of drug (i just said coke as opposed to pot or alcohol) it just made me so sad yet seemed to confirm why this boy is constantly getting time outs and having soooo many issues at school. it's non-stop with him. so sad and i just wish i could nip it in the bud for his sake [ Reply | More ]

really? that's what i initially thought too, but then i feel like i could approach the teacher tactfully without specifics of the time i saw the mom. maybe just talk to her about the boy and see what her thoughts are and if she even knows anything about his family life. she can send notes home to the parents all she wants, but if they aren't advocates for their child's education and don't care, it won't do a darn thing. now if she maybe asked the mom to come in once a week for a conference or something - she might end up seeing what i saw [ Reply | More ]

That's a good question but I don't have any answer. People have a similar question about pregnancy tests. Like what if you put milk or water on the test instead of pee. I really hope you used a condom even after the test. Go get the 20 minute Elisa test as soon as possible. It costs 90s bucks and results in an hour or go the any free clinic and get the saliva test and be sure to take it along with your guy. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] For people who have let their babies CIO: if you still did one feeding a night, did you wake the baby to do it? Our 4 mo was waking up 5-10 times a night when his paci would fall out so we have decided to do the tough love approach so we can ALL sleep better (and make our older son's life better with a mother who is not tetering on the edge of insanity). Anyway - he has been waking up around 2 am to eat and we are not ready to let him cry that out yet. However, someone told me her ped. advised her to wake the baby to feed at that time rather than let him wake up crying - anyone have something to say about this? 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

When our baby was around that age, we woke her up each night at about 11:00pm - just before I turned in for bed myself - to do one last feeding. She would then sleep through the night. When she got older (and her stomach bigger), we eliminated that feeding by gradually decreasing the amount on a weekly basis. By the time she was about six-seven months, she would go down around 6:30pm and sleep through the night until 6:30am. [ Reply | More ]

It's possible, then, that he's actually not hungry when he wakes up in the middle of the night. Have you read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth? It's excellent. Our ped recommended it. [ Reply | More ]
