Get things that fit and flatter. Doesn't have to pricey -- in summer, I love Old Navy tanks and they are super cheap and the cut is right on me. How often can you do laundry? Come up with a week's worth of outfits that work. I feel as though it's okay to re-wear things often if they look good. [ Reply | More ]

Stylist mom here. Invest in a good jacket/blazer. Cheap jackets ruin the whole outfit. Theory makes a good one (and you can find them at loehman's or Neiman Last Call). Then get your self a couple of cashmere cardigans (try ebay!) in bright jewel colors. Reasonably priced pants & jeans are in multiples at Banana Republic, and Nine West has great shoes & bags this season. And I agree w/ the poster above, Old Navy makes GREAT tees-- get a bunch and layer them. [ Reply | More ]

I can help you with this. I was diagnosed with the same thing -- stage 4 cancer, except for a shorter period of time to live. I am still alive more than 10 years later. This was not a mistaken diagnosis, I am simply a very very lucky person with great doctors who took risks. Help her plan wisely (I'm not recommending denial) but do be aware that even so-called terminal patients sometimes do recover. [ Reply | More ]

Tonight, we had pizza (which he usually likes)..he ate NONE...He has had a bunch of colds recently, so I think that is contributing. But I am so worried about him. He seems to gain weight, albeit very little. He is in 5th percentile. He had reflux when he was an infant. We took him off meds around 1yo because ped. thought he was ok. most schools consider 6th and 9th the other main entry point. at some schools they are significant (eg HM and Trinity nearly double in 9th) and at others they are more minor. i believe the K-8/9 schools do NOT have a 6th grade entry point. Friends adds a class for 6th grade (around 20 kids). Dalton often only takes applications for K, 6th and 9th grades. They may add around 20 kids for high school and fewer for 6th grade. The single sex schools take surprisingly few for high school (maybe 6-15 or so, and usually on the low side of those figures). Trinity adds quite a few for 9th grade (around 80 if I remember correctly). The Bronx schools grow the most, I think. [ Reply | More ]
