[ - ] wow. just read that exchange from last night about mean 8 y/o. I would be angry if my child was discussed here, but an 8 y/o that makes a slam book or anything like it really does need help. and even if the incident is blown out of proportion, to that mom, you need to nip this in the bud now b/c it will come back eventually to bite your child. my bff from the time we were 3 was like this. she was just mean to girls in elementary, jhs and hs (think blair waldorf from gossip girl). she did it b/c she was the 3rd, forgotten child in her family and she was screaming for attention. well, unfortunately for her, she went to a college with even meaner girls and she got her own, and it straightened her right out. so to that mom, if your dd is doing mean things, even if small, trust me from someone who has gone through this and seen the consequences, eventually your dd will be the victim. and to the mom of the other litle girl, you do what you need to do to protect your child but don't make her the victim - teach her to just walk away. trust me, nothing angered my friend more than girls that ignored her. 24 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

My doc wants me to start Clomid this coming cycle (like 2-3 weeks). I heard Clomid can cause weight gain. Do I take a cycle off and try to lose weight (which I am not good at) or do I just start the Clomid at this next cycle? I am worried about because when PG you can't diet. i agree! Sorry OP, i really feel for you I do. I am 7 mo preggo too, but opposite -- enjoying every minute! What I'm really nervous for is when the baby actually is born! Time is going way too fast in my opinion. If you are feeling down, try to remember that your body is performing nothing short of a miracle. Enjoy the quiet days you have now, because they will soon be over. I treated myself to a mani/pedi and the massage chair was heavenly. I cherished the time I could slip away because i knew in three months it will be a huge luxury. Do little things that make you happy, and try to enjoy the changes that are happening to your body. I know it's weird, and maybe a little uncomfortable, but really it's beautiful. I hope you feel better soon! [ Reply | More ]

I think what seems funky is not the idea that you have a lot of money, but that you insinuate that by paying your nanny this kind of off the charts income, you are "buying the best" for your child and that somehow this means you value your children more highly than the rest of us do. We know we have a totally two-tiered healthcare system and school system, but now you are suggesting you can BUY the most qualified nanny. It is suspect. We love our nanny too we believe she is loving and caring, and experienced, and that she does the very best she can for our children. We also know how lucky we are to have her, and how lucky most of us are to be able to afford this kind of help. The vast majority of the world cannot and does not. But to see the self righteous posts about paying for the very best because these are out "most precious assets" and so on is a bit much to take. And the above poster who suggests that social workers and teachers are to be valued less than nanny's (and paid less) is just odd. [ Reply | More ]

I by no means wanted to imply that those who pay their nannies less are getting lesser care. i don't think I ever said such a thing (although there were multiple posters on the thread). I know people here have differing circumstances and there are many wonderful nannies out there and many ways in which families can show appreciation to a great nanny. Our nanny wasn't making this kind of money when she started, abut as our circumstances changed, it seemed appropriate to share with her. but I did get from some posters (perhaps not you) the idea that it is somehow morally wrong to pay a nanny this much, that it upsets price structures or whatever. And I really dispute that. [ Reply | More ]

I'm not the poster above, but yes, they are, not exactly difficult questions, but ones that would depend on individual circumstances. The main point of my post is that it is totally bogus to try to convince others that no one really pays their nanny well, and anyone who says she does is actually a nanny. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] In-Law help needed! We are taking my parents on vacation this spring to an island where my DH's father goes often with his HORRIBLE girlfriend. DH told his dad we were going there and now FIL is going to plan a trip too. It's fine if he's there for a few days but do NOT want to spend the entire week trip with them. Should I be honest with FIL that we want some "alone time" or just let it play out and hope he and the girlfriend aren't omnipresent? 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]
