[ - ] we'd like to look for weekend/summer place up the hudson, but not sure which towns to look at. we live in williamsburg. would love to find a place w/ similar artistic vibe (minus the hipsters) where air tastes good, we can take hikes and dc can run around + play outside. where should we look? 12 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

thanks. hudson is on my list of places to check out.a little far though maybe. are new paltz and rhinebeck also on a train line? (we have a car, but it might be good to have the train as an option). do you know anything about coxsackie? just saw a listing for a place there that is beautiful, but even farther than hudson... New Paltz I think not on the train line but not 100% sure. Rhinebeck is on the Amtrak line (ditto Hudson), and I agree, with guests, etc. it is wonderful to have the backup of public transport. Sorry, no clue about Coxsackie! [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I want to transition my 4 1/2 mo. old off of Alimentum and onto a different formula. His reflux is under control now (we put him on Alimentum at 2 mos old when he was having alot of digestive issues) and he's doing alot better. Anyone have a recommendation of which formula to try to switch to? My dr. suggested moving to soy but not sure I want him on soy if he doesnt need to be on it... Was thinking Similac Sensitive? 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Is there a reason to wean him off it now? He is pretty young and reflux is often still as issue until at least 6 mos. Maybe his reflux is way better b/c of the formula? Not trying to be snarky here - I had a dd w/reflux (which took us a while to figure out) and if we had found something that calmed it as early as you did, no way would we wean her off until more like 1 year. That said, maybe there is a reaosn you want to do this? [ Reply | More ]

He is on Zantac twice a day now and it has helped us tremendously. His gassiness is gone too... I want to switch him b/c it is soooo expensive... And I hate to even be saying this (it kills me) but we're on a tight budget and the ready-to-feed Alimentum is costing us like $300/month. He refuses to eat the powder-- I've tried many times. Would your insurance company cover it? We were able to get our dd's Neocate covered b/c our doctor wrote a letter.... I know it is a FORTUNE and very very hard to pay for. You get to meet other people in your neighborhood, you can keep your kids in the same setting until K even if your job situation changes, you don't commute iwth them on the subway at rush hour, my mom or sitter can pick them up at daycare and bring them to my house b/c it's all local.
