spinach onion quiche recipie: i saute 1 medium onion, microwave 8 oz of frozen spinach (can also use fresh, but then make sure to saute or cook out all the water - dont put fresh raw spinach in the quiche - it will make it watery). squeeze out water from microwaved spinach, add to pan of sauteed onion, saute for a few minutes, add a little salt and pepper. In mixing bowl let spinach and onion mixture cool so they won't cook the eggs when you pour them in. when they are not hot anymore, add equivalent of 4 eggs worth of egg white(or you can also use real eggs), and one cup grated siwiss cheese. add a little more salt and pepper to mixture, and pour mixture into premade pie crust. cook at 375 for 45 min or until golden brown on top. let sit for about 10-15 so quiche sets before cutting into it. 2 things IMO: ability to post to more than one board. So everyone who posts to NY Schools also posts to New York City and General or Toddler, so everyone has New York City or General or Toddler selected also is forced to muddy through all the Schools crap. 2nd: The Most Popular and Most Active lists prompt people to post to novel-length threads that are days, weeks, even months old. Okay: 3 things. The inability to collapse posts AND have them stay collapsed when you refresh or post something yourself. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Tell me what you think: My dd is a year-and-a-half and is very beautiful (I know I'm biased) but ever since she was born everyone tells me that I need to get her into commercials and baby modeling (not that fake beauty pageant crap) but I am torn on whether to proceed or not. I don't think I'd mind her being in a few commercials but I don't think I would want it to go further. We looked into agents (just curious) and found one that thinks our daughter has a lot of potential but said that at this age she will not get a lot because they is a demand for twins and triplets that can take turns in front of the camera. Should I proceed or wait till she's older? Has anybody done this with a young one and was it worth it? I'd like to start a savings account with any money she makes that so that she will have some money when she's older. TIA 19 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Sometimes soap operas will use one baby, because most likely they only need them for literally 60 seconds of screen time. But maybe wait until she's a bit older. My GF had very beautiful daughter and everyone would tell her this constantly, so she just decided to go for and get her agent. The girl does commercials and was in a big broadway show. She's older now (teen) and not getting a lot of work so be prepared for that and to help her transition either to a "normal kid" or into a young adult actress. [ Reply | More ]

My dd did several ads and a major mag cover--no trouble getting work (chosen from headshots--no go-sees). She "retired" when she started preschool as I would never pull a dc out of school for modeling. Got lots of great photos out of it, but it's not a huge source of cash, if that's what you're thinking. My niece did tv and print for under 4 years, over 15 yrs ago and made enough to pay for 4 yrs of college +help with downpayment for her very reasonably priced apt apt. She never needed to do a series long term, go on a billion go-sees for commercials or become a household name. My young child is on a similar track and did high visibility 'free'(editorial) work, which gained the notice of well paying catalog and advertising clients. The key is not pushing it and stopping as soon as the child wants/needs to. [ Reply | More ]

I'll add that you need to be very present for your child, not rely on this for income and use it as enrichment. One and half yr old babies are beautiful and working at anything other than being our babies and developing minds and bodies seems weird. Wait until at least 4. [ Reply | More ]

True, but in most the commercials the baby is the focus. On a sit-com or soap, the baby is usually in one scene used to establish their presence, like Rachel's baby, then "in a bassinet" for the majority of the show. [ Reply | More ]

most agents will not take a kid on until age 4. the kid has to be like a zombie. take instruction well and nver be the distracted or curious type, there is a lot of "hurry up and waitinging: on set, so when the kid is hanging out for 3 hours while lighting, and they become cranky and tired or hungry they will not care and not up with it. as one big agent once told me, there are hundreds of mothers standing in line behind you who will put their kid through that and not care. as sad as that is. My DD did modeling for 3 years, from about the age of 2.5 It was okay, but the only meaningful $$ comes from TV commercials if they go national and have a long flight. She did land a big commercial but was edited out. I'd probably have stuck with it for longer, but she lost interest, and our total earnings were probably about $2K... IMO it takes personality as much as anything. Totally disagree with zombie remark; I think it's the really outgoing kids who do well, and those who really love to do it. If she doesn't it will show...my DD is kind of moody and shy, and that held her back I think, although she had lots of calls. Also FWIW though my DD is strikingly beautiful (yes, of course I'm biased, but everyone does always say it) I think average-looking kids or even those with quirky looks can do as well b/c not all casting agents are looking for a beauty. My final observation from all the go-sees is that biracial kids are very much in demand. (My DD happens to be Asian, and it may have helped a bit, but not as much as being AA with an interesting look and great personality) [ Reply | More ]

Then, just send photos to agents; whatever you do, don't spend any $$ on professional photos or anyone who promises you work. [ Reply | More ]
