Be careful what you ask for! I went back to work when my kids were 4 and 6 and after 3 years couldn't wait to stop working! Unless you can afford a nanny who runs the show, takes the kids to doctor's appointments, helps with homework, then time outside of work is spent doing all of these things. [ Reply | More ]

Part time is a positive step for you And your kids- if it is what will make you feel more happy and/or fulfilled. I agree that you'll be picking up more slack due to your absence, than you may project but you'll surely find ways to manage, if this is what you want. I believe recognizing the importance of autonomy for yourself will provide an important example for your kids. Good Luck-I hope this works for you! [ Reply | More ]

everyone has access to bc. Everyone can be celibate. I'm all about personal responsibility. That's all. I think we should all stop whining and take care of ourselves instead of asking the gov't to do it. The idea of some beaurocrat talking to my 5 year old about any kind of sexuality gives me the creeps. I don't think that is the responsibilty of the government. It has too much control already. BC can cost upwards of $50 (I'm talking about things other than condoms which are not failsafe) without insurance. Unfortunately many people grow up without good mothers like yourself who don't teach them about personal responsibility. And good people make mistakes sometimes regardless. And, fwiw, I HIGHLY doubt some "beaurocrat" is going to be teaching your 5yo - I imagine it would be taught by their K teacher, as part of a session on bodies. Really not a lot to do with the government. [ Reply | More ]

There's another angle to this that makes public "sex" (or whatever you want to call it) education appropriate. When all the children in a school get the same education, there is no misinformation being passed around; no one feeling scared if they happened not to get this at home; everyone knows the same thing, everyone is basically comfortable with it, because it's public. When you keep something private it has a very good chance of becoming distorted, especially with children. [ Reply | More ]

Why would the professional photographer give you the choice? I'd use Shutterfly. [ Reply | More ]

i bought the cd of prints from the photographer rather than having the photographer print them for me...and not give me a negative. [ Reply | More ]

are you looking to do a photo album or just get printed. if a photo album, i'd say shutterfly or snapfish, but if you're just looking to develop, you can easily test out a few for like pennies at Walgreens. You can do online and then go pick up. [ Reply | More ]

They all do the same job; a poor one. If you spent the money on a professional photographer, why go and ruin that work with an online printing? If the pro develops in their own dark room, you will get much, much better results than Snapfish or Kodak. [ Reply | More ]

It isn't the materials that make would cause the discrepancy in quality, it would be how how many prints go through the machine before the chemicals are changed and other quality control checks. [ Reply | More ]

that's why most professional photographers have their own photo printer and don't rely on others to get the pictures printed [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Last post on this, I promise. I'm the one who really liked a nanny I interviewed a few weeks ago. Called her 2 wks ago to make her the offer. I knew she was at her daughter's wedding for at least some of the past two weeks. Heard nothing. Interviewed another nanny, also liked her (not as much). But nanny #2 was good too -- she called to express interest and said she had another offer but would prefer to work for us. So, I made the offer to #2 last night (she can't start till after labor day). Today, nanny #1 called and asked if we were still looking. Always liked nanny #1 better. Thoughts? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

ita. this is not a marriage. there's not one person that's best for you. if you like this nanny and she wants the job, is following up, is being professional, is qualified, jump at this. Besides the fact that you already made the offer. [ Reply | More ]
