I don't wear shorts at the gym. Most women I see with shorts on at the gym look terrible in them. Makes your butt look fatter than it really is. If you run you'll see all the thigh jiggle (unless you are in your 20s) on the treadmill. Certain lighting makes cellulite show up more. Also, if you are short, you'll look even shorter having your thighs chopped my shorts. Stick to yoga pants. [ Reply | More ]

Whatever size you are you should be able to wear anything you want. I don't have the most attractive legs by far, cellulite, but i still wear short (not ultra) shorts in the summer. You also will never have a high enough IQ to know that not all fat people are fat because they eat too much. We all have different metabolisms, medical conditions, recovery times from preg, diff. genes. Some people work out religiously, eat well and are still fat. There is nothing they can do but be the brunt of your cruel jokes. Meanwhile, a lot of skinny women I know eat at mcdonalds and eat chinese food every other day and are thin as a rail. And they dont work out either. Skinny ppl can also get cellulite, theres no way around that. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Help! 16 weeks pg w/#2, have a wedding to go to next weekend and need a dress. I'm not wearing maternity yet, but I'm close. Tried on a bunch of non-maternity dresses a size bigger and they were ridiculous--my problem is I'm a very petite person, so they are enormous in the bust, shoulders, etc. So, I need a maternity dress, but I'm barely showing. it's normal to feel upset about stories like that. It's upsetting and sad and now that we have kids, it's easier to relate to how that would feel as a parent. However, if you are truly upset and depressed for days, I think you may have some issues. Bad things happen in life to many people. It's normal to feel sad or angry about it. the thoughts and feelings are very honest. I can totally relate to the feelings. But, I think the rhyming is a little too contrived. That very well may just be my personal bias though. And it completely depends on what you are writing thsi for. I used to write a lot in college and one thing I found is that longer lines that rhymed worked better than shorter ones like this. If you really want to rhyme, try not having quite such a tight cadence maybe. I do like the thoughts behind it though. [ Reply | More ]

NP. I think it is lovely and touching (and I mean that in a nonsnarky way). Keep going with it. [ Reply | More ]

thanks. it's great to hear opinions from a fresh pair of eyes. i originally had longer lines and i thought the whole stanza dragged out too much. so i shortened lines 3 and 4 but maybe it does sound too contrived. [ Reply | More ]

I do like the staggered rhyme instead of ABAB etc. And seriously, unless you want to get it published, I wouldn't worry about how it sounds. Just write for yourself. It can be a huge help in processing emotions. Write it for you and put it away for a little while. Maybe later when you have a little distance on the loss itself, you can tweak it. I do like it and think it has potential. [ Reply | More ]

OR well a support group will be very sympathetic. I say go for it. People in my online support group post poems fairly regularly. Even if they don't sound professional, we all love hearing them. It's just another way to express and sort out your feelings. Again I'm sorry for your loss. I'm guessing maybe you lost a child? I did too if you want to chat about that [ Reply | More ]

yes, thanks. second trimester miscarriage. my sister actually wrote the poem for me after i tried telling her how i felt. i then rewrote a good portion of it. but i'm trying to keep to the basic scheme, so i'm going to stay with the five lines. but the length of the lines can easily be adjusted. ggrrr! There is no reply button above but I'm the OR you have been talkign to. That is so sweet for your sister to write that. My sister was a huge help to me after my son died. There is a great online support group called Missfoundation.org if you are interested. They saved my life right after. Many people post things they have written there. I hope you are ok [ Reply | More ]

thanks. i'm ok for the most part. it still hits me hard every now and then. and i haven't even gotten to my due date yet. i also think it's hitting me in sneaky ways...problems with dh or dcs are really b/c i'm unhappy but i don't always realize it until afterwards. I will look at the missfoundation web site. i've found people online to be really helpful. and i feel more comfortable discussing it online rather than IRL. How long ago was your loss? How are you handling things? [ Reply | More ]

my son died when he was 3 days old and he would be 6.5yo now, so it's been a long time. The first few months and even the whole first year are the hardest for most of us. You will never stop missing your child or wondering why but eventually you will figure out a way to incorporate this into your life. If you aren't even to your due date yet, this must be very recent. Give yourself the time and space you need to grieve and deal with it. Try and eat well and get enough sleep. Grieving is hard work and takes a lot of energy. [ Reply | More ]

this is very true and very wise. i didn't realize how much it takes out of me, physically. i'm also very lucky b/c i do have children and i've stopped feeling guilty and started feeling grateful for my blessings. but it's still hard. [ Reply | More ]

it is hard. But it does get easier. He was our first so I didn't have others to take my mind off of things. But on the other hand, I had the luxury of being able to wallow in my feelings for a while. LOL! Either way, it's not easy. Take care of yourself and just feel your feelings. You can ask for me here if you want to talk. Ask for heart defect mom. I'm here more than I ought to be! :-) [ Reply | More ]
