[ - ] I wanted to cook herbed organic infused quail for Thanksgiving but no. Then I suggested to make a duck in plum sauce - no. He wants a turkey done traditionally. Fine. But I told him I won't roast that basic bitch of the poultry world. So he ordered one for store pick-up tomorrow. 16 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Yes. We have a second home that's been in my family for a long time. I don't think I would go out of my way to acquire one. There was a moment in time when kids were younger and before sports and activities - and more importantly friends/socializing - when we went frequently. But now, it's ocassional - few times a year and I don't miss it at all. I would hate to go all the time. Also, we prefer varying our vacation time. [ Reply | More ]

You dont understand this simple question? Let me explain it to you, dimwit. Just because we may have some knowledge or technology to do a certain thing does not mean we necessarily should do that thing. Such as cloning, designer babies, Etc. Just because Medical Technology exists that could get an obese woman pregnant does not mean it is technically responsible to take the steps to do so, considering the risk to both the fetus and the woman. Wow. Calm down. When I said "anyone who is female can get pregnant" i meant NATURALLY. As an ob, you can never assume people are too medically fucked up to have sex and get pregnant. People have sex. Severe morbidly obese people have sex. Cancer patients have sex. 45 year olds have sex. Maybe you don't,but most people in the world have sex, and pregnancy is always a possibility. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Lets try to understand the plights and difficulties faced by opposite sex. UB has been very hostile to men lately. A lot of women claiming victim status. I too have been a part of this. I get personally angry when someone gets divorced or faces victim shaming. But I’m a firm believer that resentments are unhealthy, and rivalries are counter productive. Especially hatred toward men can impact my future relationship with my spouse. It is unfair that I project some prejudices on my current boyfriend based on the nasty things my soon-to-be ex-husband has done to me. Thus I propose that we try to understand the opposite sex a little more. In this thread let’s not think about our own difficulties and their short comings, but instead list some of difficulties faced by the opposite sex, and areas where we ourselves can do better. 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Some nannies don’t want to talk to me at all, others ask extremely personal questions. Many can’t remember my name and/or my daughter’s name. We just had a nanny and child over this morning and the nanny hocked up a big wad of phelgm in my bathroom sink, which I discovered later. Is it me? I trest them exactly as I would treat a mom - offer food/drink, make conversation, etc. 34 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

So host a play date at the library. Or the park. Or your "go-to" playspace. Or your buliding's playroom. I find it hard to believe that any stranger would just leave a lob of phlegm in the sink- that's beyond for any visiting adult. So maybe never invite THOSE odd birds over again. [ Reply | More ]

Don’t treat them as you would a mom. Most of them have zero desire to make conversation with you. I would say feel free to make yourself at home in the living room while the kids play. I have some work to do/things to take care of so will be on the computer. Offer tea. Tell her you will get a snack for the kids @ x time. Then offer her again while getting snack for the kids [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I am working on not being envious/jealous but I have a friend with a trust fund who always wants to get together and go with our families to brunch, or visit this place ($25 per person) or do that activity ($50 per child). I usually suggest they come over for brunch instead or we go to the park. Our DCs are the same age and go to the same local school and friend and I always laugh, and our DHs get along. Whenever I tell DH, though, that the friend suggested we meet up at a local place (not even expensive) for family brunch or dinner, DH reminds me that we're on a budget and friend has more funds at her disposal. 29 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

OP here. In retrospect, wish I had gone to state school instead of to an expensive private college. [ Reply | More ]

Friend and her DH go out to eat by themselves at least 2x per week (many times to $$$ places). When she suggests we meet at local pub or diner, sure, that's not expensive but to DH and I, it's going to cost $80 or more for our family. Guess the point I'm trying to make is that DF seems to think we are in same position as she is, but truth is we're on a budget. [ Reply | More ]

So then you have to be honest with her and say I appreciate the invitation, don't have the Disposable cash to participate in stuff like this all the time. And then you either say that you want to suggest something less expensive, or accept the invitation only occasionally. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks, we typically accept the invite occasionally or suggest lower-cost option. I've noticed similar things with moms I don't know as well - they'll suggest meeting up at a super expensive/popular breakfast place, so I've countered with "hey, why don't you come to our place for bagels?" It's super expensive. Adds up. OP needs to stay in her lane. She is over reaching. And I don't mean that as an insult. Not saying these people are better. [ Reply | More ]

I do suggest no or lower-cost activities. She's not suggesting we go to Per Se but she doesn't realize that we don't have the same disposable income. [ Reply | More ]

I'm sure OP's friend is not a dimwit and she gets it ! ...If OP has an apartment nice enough to host, then OP is doing ok. Next time its just the two of you , ( since it sounds like she's nice and really likes OP) , OP say very lightheartedly, hey i've been meaning to say, thanks for all the invites, i hope its ok that we do more homey stuff, we're always saving and just have to be careful with our budget. thats all , light and easy. She'll quickly say, oh my gosh, of course i understand and that will be that. No issues. [ Reply | More ]

There is always going to be someone who has more disposable income than you do. If you can't afford to participate in everything she invites you to, you have to decline. It's up to you whether you tell her why or not but if she is the person who would judge you for not being able to spend freely on nin-necessities, is she really your friend? [ Reply | More ]

If you weren't envious you could just tell your friend, hey, I can't afford that. Let's do something else. Then if she loves you she'll easily adapt to doing things you can afford to do. Why be envious? You have a good life. Be a real friend and be honest. [ Reply | More ]
